I love that A-Team van with the key, I had that as a Kid and the Transformer on the left as well. Very nice. 8)

Fantastic work Jason!

Putting the link up on youtube is a great touch as it's nice to see with the interactive lighting and score and you've really outdone yourself this time.

Out of interest what material did you use for all the stone work?

Dioramas like this really show off these vintage figures to their best and it's so worth all the work that must have gone into this piece.

looking forward to your next as ever,

Ian

Thanks so much Ian! I was really happy with how it turned out. I made the rocks using Styrofoam and cut them using an electric foam cutter. Made it nice to be able to shape them the way I wanted to try to get it to look fairly realistic. The paint work was a challenge, but after some trial and error and several different colors of paint, it worked pretty well. :)

Really good work, the music and lighting, and quality of the work really set the diorama off, you do get instantly pulled into the nostalgia of the film, if you know what I mean. :)

Really appreciate it! The music was a must when showing this off. Wanted to get the feel of the movie. :)

Those rocks came out real well with using Styrofoam, I've never had much luck with it over the years (although I am going back a bit now), but I got to talk with Rick Baker a couple of years ago who came around work and he'd been using it to make Frankensteins doorway and other areas and it looked amazing. The funny thing he told me was that he bought a rapid prototyping machine to make Franks head and was going to use it for the doorway but it was getting to big. He then noticed the Styrofoam that the RP machine came in and used that instead  Just goes to show that you can't beat those old techniques!

Great work though and thanks for the info.

I've got a little more but it's all duplicates. (X2 of the alien claws and 2x the star guard cannon) The most interesting for me is the original packing boxes. I haven't opened the Alien Saucer one.

Thanks for sharing these items, there're great, as Toni would have said....
I remember Britains stuff, (WW2 and farm animals from when I was a kid, I can still remember the large glass display cabinet full of individual animals) but I've never seen these before, I was probably too old for toys when these came out.
I assume it was Britains attempt to jump on the space/SI FI band wagon?
The minds that thought these up must have some "chemical" help as they are beyond wacky!
Well done in acquiring these.

I think they were a Star Wars rip-off that failed. Probably from 81 to 84. I actually got into these first before SW as they were for sale at my local shops along with all the other Britains stuff like Cowboys, Civil War, WW2 and my farm set (which my kids played with this week!)

My hunt for these in Debenhams, Bristol led me to Star Wars toys... I defo knew all the characters so had seen the films before. (I would have been around 4/5 at this time.)

These are great to see and I've still got a bunch of the figures and a vehicle that I was bought as new from back in the day. I must admit though that I've never seen the Muteron & Master or Cybertron & Robot so those were an extra treat to see :D

The shipping boxes are really nice also, top marks for Britains shipping them this way for protection as well as putting the stickers on them.

Ah...thanks so much for that memory nudge...I'd totally forgotten the Civil war soldiers and Cowboys and Indians.
I so remember the large glass display cabinet in the local toy shop filled with Britian's figures on their bases, it feels like yesterday that myself and my brother used to kneel down and decide which one we were going to get next.
As long as we'd been good!!!.
It might feel like yesterday, but in reality it was nearly 50 years ago...
Didn't Britians also make some Hippy motorbikes?

Amazing collection :) I wish we could have that Beeches sale again. So many missed opportunities by me. As always, money was tight and space was short. But if I could go back and have another go I would. What didn't help was not knowing everything that was there up front. If I had I could have paced myself. As it was, it was sale after sale after sale then bang: all gone.

Great to see and thanks for sharing. So cool :)

I only discovered all about it on the last sale - So I went mad. I ended up not only with lots of SW and Britains, but also (bizarrely) lots of Action Man and Subbuteo!

I mean, if there is ever a Subbuteo shortage - I have that market sewn right up.

Great to see the Britain's Space UKS. Ive got a few of these too as they were a big part of my childhood. We just had the yellow and black figures, and the white and orange ones were new on me - but I have some now.

You are right on the dates, I definitely had them in 1981/2

Gary Smith was selling off a load of these that his dad got from work back int he day. I wonder if they were his at Vectis?

I'll post up my pics befroe too long

Loving the Britains

Have added some loose MOTU figures to the "jumbled cabinet" to add to the Thundercats etc.

I've added a couple of pieces to my Britains set. The high wire starguard and a boxed sets of alien and SG troops.

And I was thinking of a bit of a MOTU run after grabbing some from the local oxfam. But my youngest daughter has co opted them, so now they live in a nice suburban detached house with My little Pony, slyvanian families and about 8 modern transformers.

Amazing, the Battlecat box is one of my favourite toy packaging ever. Great display. 8)

Wife and daughter got me Spidey for my Birthday :D :D :D

Loved this figure (doll) as a kid. I remember putting a gold belt from a Space 1999 doll on him 8)

Mego dolls are just fantastic - so many cool memories
