Other Vintage Collections

Thanks Jeremy, I may have over paid on him, but it's the best one that I have ever seen.
And you know how you can get carried away at auctions!

Iv'e picked up a stray who turned up at my house today, he can stay though, I don't mind.

These aren't strictly vintage....well they're not at all but I thought they fit here! Here are a selection of the Super7 SDCC offerings this year that I picked up . I really like this company and they've been putting out great products for years now.

The Alien/Hammerhead figure was released as a homage to the vintage Alien 3.75 line that Kenner was going to put out in the 80's but decided against once they watched the film and realised it wasn't really for kids (kind of amazing it got as far as it did and they did put out an 18" Alien and board game but complaints from parents made them pull it).

Vintage wax sculpts were created for some of the Alien characters which Super7 either ended up owning or replicating for their first release of figures. There was also a mockup of an Alien character which was kit bashed using a Star Wars Hammerhead and this SDCC release is their tribute to it. I think it's pretty nice and can see a fair few Star Wars fans adding this one to their collections also.

The Misfits figure has been made to look like Remco packaging from their Universal Monsters line that was released in the 80's. I've seen a few of these original Remco monster figures and card backs on this thread recently so thought it was worth showing as I thought they did a nice job of recreating this (I believe someone made a custom of this and Super7 contacted the person responsible for it to work with them for the SDCC release).

The last 4 figures are some die-cut, day-glo Universal Monsters which were made up for con this year. They will be releasing these figures and some others around October this year with some amazing artwork card art and in more traditional colours but I liked the look of these so picked up a set.

Hopefully with all the vintage mentioned in this post you can see why I thought this would be the right place to show these off.

Ian

Those are some very nice items, Ian. The figures and the packaging are great and I'm sure will be of interest to many Forum members.

Regarding them not being vintage, is there an official definition of what does constitute 'vintage' for non-Star Wars items on this Forum? I posted photos of some of my own non-Star Wars figures in their own 'Off Topic' thread (http://starwarsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=34774), but perhaps I could /should have posted them right here in the 'Other Vintage Collections' thread like you have instead? If there is an official Forum definition of 'vintage' for non-Star Wars toys / collections, I would be very interested to learn what it is.

Thanks for the comment Jeremy and it is a tricky one on here with where to put things like ours. I think you were right to start a new thread for your items as it's generated a fair few responses with other pictures added. That said though we do have a modern section which is where I was thinking of putting mine but thought this thread would work with the mention of some of these being inspired by vintage toys. Maybe an idea would be to start an 'Other Modern Collections' here in the off topic section. It might be nice to keep both Vintage and Modern other collections together here in the Off Topic section and I'm sure there are a lot of great items that people could share.

If people think this is a good idea and a mod reads this then I'm happy for them to move my last post into a thread named Other modern Collections and perhaps even your modern collection could go in there as well if you're happy with that Jeremy? It would be a way of starting the thread off and we can see if it grows.

That sounds like a very good idea, Ian, and yes absolutely, I am quite happy for my thread to be moved into an 'Other Modern Collections' one if a mod thinks it's a good idea. Well done for thinking of it :)

Those are really cool Ian! That Hammerhead Alien is incredible. Thanks for sharing.

It was hard to resist this years Super7 SDCC releases, really happy with what I managed to pick up and it looks like there will be some other really nice monster related releases coming out in October from them so I'm looking forward to those also. :D

I remember these, they were awesome, thanks for sharing 8)

No probs!

Unfortunately this is the only one I had growing up, think my mom must have just got it as a random purchase to add with other toys at xmas, fun little toy though.

In case anyone needed it here is absolute proof that I'll buy any old **** with a sticker on
These have been accumulated over a few months in the US and kindly forwarded by Iain.
Thank you mate

Cool figures, I used to love that British Bulldog figure, my mate had the same one along with quite a few other figures that I always used to play with.

I remember that Robotech figure too, the one I had back then was Rick Hunter which I bought from a £1 shop near me, I also bought the MAC II Destroid Cannon robot which iv'e recently bought this year graded. Robotech was a cool little line of toys!

Just acquired the very last vintage trading card sealed pack I needed to complete my vintage 80's / 90's card collection, thanks to stu70 for helping me find it. :)
