What other vintage toy lines do you guys think are worth collecting, and by that I mean what do you think is cool, and what do you think might be appreciating in value?

Having sold my 1:18th scale Christine car i'm looking at putting the proceeds back into vintage, but not Star Wars. :? I'm just not sure what to put the money into.

Action Force are about the only thing affordable that I regularly look at. It seems possible to pick up early series MOC's for £10-30, and now would appear to be the time. Then there's the Indiana Jones ROTLA figures and playsets, but they are rising in price so rapidly, becoming prohibitively expensive.

MOTU are nice but again, very expensive. Vintage space Lego, A-Team, Transformers, M.A.S.K - all nice toy lines. Slightly oddball but Police Academy figures and playsets are kind of cool. Just not sure that there's much of a market with them if I ever decided to sell on.

1980's sticker albums and sets really take me back, in fact I can't think of anything I had more fun with as a kid - trading stickers on the playground and sending off for the last few :D But again, i'm considering the market for resale and future value.

It's the million dollar question, but what's out there for a bargain right now?

LJN's dungeons and dragons?

I've just picked up some of the Kenner Indiana Jones figures - they are pretty cool and seem to be holding their value

I just collect what I personally enjoy collecting - Indy, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, I even have a few pieces from Hook and Robin Hood. I don't really care what others think about my collection, as long as I like it and enjoy it, and keeping within my budget.

D&D look wicked. Never heard of them before :) Were they UK released?

I know what you guys are saying about collecting whatever you like, i'm just looking for ideas. I'm slightly jealous of Iain now he's over in the US - the land of vintage Indiana Jones toys. They are quite hard to find for decent prices over here.

They certainly were released I the UK. I've only bothered collecting series 1 of the figures as they are the only one's I owned as a child. Looking back I did pretty well as between me and my brother we were only missing one from the set. The later series 2 figures can demand higher prices and the are also the re-released battle-matic figures.

Although not based on the D&D cartoon several of the character did make cameo's in the cartoon.

Silverhawks mate, Silverhawks! 8)

What are Silverhawks? Don't remember them at all. Have to go and research now as they look awesome as well :)

*edit* - wow! MOC they fetch a premium. Some really nice figures

Looking at these figures there seem to be a lot on eBay with the backing card and the bubble. Is it that the bubbles were prone to coming away from the card or are they just opened cards? There are some really decent resources out there for D&D with collectors guides. I like that :)

Retro computer games. Some bargains can be had. I got a sealed ps1 Colin McRae rally game this week for £5 plus £3 postage. Major game in my younger years. Just a thought. 8)

Same for me Walkie although I do have a few from series two as well and also the rare Melf with a blue shield moc ( the only one I've ever seen still carded!). These were fantastic action figures and can been picked up fairly cheaply in both the Uk and US……well just as long as you're not after any of those windup insects and as you mentioned some of series two.

Action Force ;)

Zoids are pretty cool. Sold mine a few years ago- wish I'd kept them now

Something completely different- Inpro dinosaurs 8) Still got mine and they're ace ;)

Scalextric?

Scalextric is very cool but so many different lines it would be hard to know where to start. Plus you need a huge space for a decent track. Don't see the point if you don't have a track.

Time to bin some crap out of the attic more like ...think I can secretly bin a few things that aren't mine

Some really great suggestions. The ones that have caught my eye are the AD&D because they are stunning figures with a limited run that aren't too horrendously expensive. What a great run the first series would make :)

I'm trying to identify some Marvel hero figures that I have 3 of. They date from around 1991 and are non-posable, made from PVC. Might to post them up to see if anyone recognises them. The three I have are Gambit, Cyclops and the Hulk (in Santa outfit).

Zoids as mentioned before
Play Asterix figures from the 80's
Go-Bots (cheaper and better IMO than Transformers)
Smurfs
Thundercats

Thundercats have gone really pricey, bit like MOTU. Asterix! Forgot all about them ....

I'm not too sure about value and what's good from an investment point of view but there are a lot of other cool vintage toys out there. I'm concentrating almost solely on Star Wars at the moment but if I had more funds and space I'd like to collect some other stuff. I've got a few bits - Action Man, A-Team and Transformers. I tend to be interested in stuff I had as a kid and action figures from films or TV shows I like. I quite like vintage Indiana Jones, Alien, Dune, Transformers and A-Team but I have seen a lot of other weird and wonderful things too. I also like superhero - Marvel and DC etc but I know absolutely nothing about the vintage toys. Was thinking about a cabinet or shelf with random vintage figures of all sorts together. I know it's a cliche but I think you are best off buying or collecting what YOU like, and if it's old, in good nick and complete it's prob worth money and will hold it's value.

Investment wise I don't think you can beat Star Wars. For the moment at least it's almost guaranteed that anything you buy will go up in value. I haven't seen anything go down in value but some are anticipating that the bubble will burst soon.

As for other lines i'm speculating that early series AF will rocket while MOTU and Indiana Jones continue to rise . It's like stocks and shares
