A fair bit of talk here and there about Oscar's cases. I'm hoping to get a fair number of them (maybe around 20 or so) - but am concerned about customs - int. shipping cost. Does anyone know how they compare to the UKG cases? Are they better value?

Says near the top of the page that UKG charge £8.99 per case:

I have a few AFA graded and would like them to look as similar to those as possible.

I am a fan of oscars cases. I have never bought or had anything graded by UKG so cannot give you any sort of comparison.

OScar is a really helpful guy and he has sorted me out with some great deals, quick shiiping and so far i have never been hit with an customs charges - but i guess there is already a first time.

just been hit by customs, depends if the sender ticks the 'gift' box, some people dont llike doing that

I got a quote of UKG a few weeks back at about £74.00 for 10 cases
email them at - [email protected]
I spoke to Steve who was very helpful

I havent dealt or looked at Oscar yet but lots of people rate him

Oscar always puts a low value on his shipments whether you ask him too or not. Until UKG make thinner cases I'd go with Oscar. It can take a while though.

It is helpfull that people have used Oscars, i want slim cases not great big ones, so if anyone is planning on making an order we could all chip together to save postage as i wouldnt mind a few?

good idea, it's probably cases that people can wait for

any links for Oscar? with pictures of the cases ? Cheers

I just received a huge amount of UKG cases and they are superb at a great price.
Packaging was perfect and Steve was always helpful.

I just ordered another 50.

Thanks v. much for those photos Lafos, that's really helfpful! Still not sure what I'm going to do - I want them to look as close as possible to the AFA graded ones I have - these UKG ones do look quite deep. I think Oscar does AFA style graded ones (although they seem a touch wider than the sliding botttom true-view ones), but I'm still mulling it over. Cheers!

Well im still up for clubbing together to make an order to save shipping if it works out cheaper, i dont want those deep cases, i would find it rather annoying having all that space.

Rudyard - Oscar's AFA style cases are great, I display all my pal Han Hoth's in them and there is virtually no difference between the AFA ones

Thanks Spoons, they do look the same as AFA's, reckon they are the one's I'll end up going for. Your run of HH's look great by the way! 8)

Clubbing together for an order does sound a good idea in principle. However, I don't live in the UK anymore, so have doubts whether it would work out any cheaper / be worthwhile for me, personally to go that route.

It may be if one of us relayed the cases to the other, i mean 5 people all paying postage for shipping from the US would be expensive but if say they all got postaed to you in one shipment, and you forwarded them on and charged us postage and a bit extra to bring your postage down for the initial delivery it might work out a bit cheaper?

I can't see you saving much cash buying in bulk - it might even cost more. The thing with the US and UK postal services is that with heavy things posting 10 is normally 10 times the cost of posting 1, and there is a max weight issue (2 kg). You'd end up paying for postage twice if you had to send them on.

It only works out cheaper if you buy loads (50 odd - like Lafos did), or use a service like Simon's bananadoo (or something like that), but even then the cost of posting them on would probably offset any saving.

Probably best for you to buy in bulk and then meet up instead of posting them on.

It might be worth enquiring on costs, i might be willing to buy a bulk load and sell them on (not for profit purposes) to you guys and just make the postage back.

Or if someone can find a reseller in EU who does them...there must be!

Oscar is a one man outfit so there's no reseller. If you do want to buy a bulk lot, let me know prices as I need a few diecast cases.

If everyone can let me know what they want i will put an order in, i need at least 10 cases as im not getting them graded. so if anyone needs anything let me know and ill get a quote for the lot.
