I thought I'd make sure members understand some basics about the forum, as it relates to management of it in general, but specifically because I've just banned JosephY again, this time permanently.
Members that post in the forum take content from it and give content to it. That content is part of the forum, and not something that gets to leave with a member if he chooses to no longer participate, or if he loses his membership privileges.
If members are unwilling to post under this kind of give and take agreement, then they should not post in the forum.
JosephY returned from a suspension and promptly removed content that was part of the history of the forum.
He also started a goodbye thread, something in general that does not serve the community positively, and isn't something I am willing to let stand in the forum.
These actions led me to believe he is no longer somebody that can be part of the forum, and that's why I banned him permanently.
I am also returning his removed content to the forum.
I'm aware he will be learning of this the same way others are, by reading this thread, as I wish to have no personal contact with someone so unhappy when I have so many people that feel yelling, screaming and acting out in the forum is not acceptable to interact with instead.
This is not about pro or contra JoeY...or being on other terms how a forum should be moderated! This is about cutting the free will of people and their right to choose what to do with their possesion (=pictures).
I dont have the english skills to really make my point, but that is just pure ****!
If he restores the threads and even the pictures on a RS based (means: the pictures uploaded on RS) form I will definatley go!

I think Philip always had a thing about people using his forum to limelight/inform/discuss etc then at any point in time they could just up ship and leave, taking it all with them, it does render a lot of threads completely useless and the board does suffer too.
However I do appreciate that content, personal opinion, pictures etc are not the property of Philip Wise.
I honestly think Philip is just trying to stick a Pineapple up Joe's ass as the entire thing has blown up out of all proportion, this is just tit for tat- I can't say I agree with Phil recovering Joe's deleted posts/limes etc but equally I don't know if I agree with people just deleting whatever they want to get the final say in an argument.
Oddly when you deleted all your pictures before people said it was a POS thing to do, yet now if Joe does it people are applauding him and following suit - sure two different situations and reasons but still the same act.

No..Joe started it, Yzerman followed and KevinA has asked for his limelight thread to be locked as he doesn't like the idea of his pictures belonging to Philip.

So all in all, toying with a newbie has cost RS a load of prominent posters, turned it into big brother with all the extra hands on moderaton and the forum is now losing limelights and information left right and center because people are deleting any trace of their collections on the forum..
It's probably best you go check it out on RS I suppose!

No big thing to me, as soon as something goes on line you are pretty much making it public property - if you don't like it don't post. On the other hand as Joe has said all his stuff is on Flicker anyway

Im just pissed because I just updated my limelight (what I wouldnt have done if it I knew what would happen today)
Its a lesson learnt.
I got to be honest. Im new to forums and have got myself dragged into silly **** when it was no need (mostly when giving up smokes). I guess its better not to react with knee jerk reactions and sleep on it for a few days. Its a way better buzz when its all diplomatic and high fives than all the negativity.
Both sides seem to be pointing the finger at each other. It would be more productive if they maybe started point fingers at themselves.
Im not big on RS- but its super important to the vintage community.
Hope it all gets chilled.

It's pretty pathetic really - I am not a big fan of JoeY and and am 100% sure that he deserved his ban - he then took his bat and ball home and seemingly a load of his mates have gone with him. As JoeO states, Phil Wise owns that site and has the right to do whatever he wants - if people don't like it then they don't have to post there

I think Philip's angry posts and reaction to all this is probably not doing him any favours or RS at the moment but yeh, it is what it is, if you break the rules on his board you can't expect him to send you a gold star can you? He is probably just well and truly pissed off and is at the point where he thinks well **** them then - I run this so they can use it and they are all behaving like children, so I can behave like one too.
It'll all blow over in a few weeks hopefully. Like Grant said, RS might not be for everyone but it has its place in our hobby. Hive of info + the classifieds are the best at times.

I'd just like to add that me asking my limelight to be locked has nothing to do with JoeY. I actually took some pics last night and was going to update tomorrow. It is more the invasion of ownership. Like I said on RS I know Facebook, forumulation and photobucket do the same but the odds of them actually caring about my pictures and using them are lower than the functionality of the sites.
I don't like that by posting I lose all rights to them to Rebelscum where we are seeing that they will use them how they want.

Some of these people may end up shooting themselves in the foot, the ones who are defo leaving, it wont matter, but the ones who are joining in for fun and spur of the moment might also get life bans and then end up regretting it when they cant post ever again.

Like Joe said in his post. It would of all went down differently if the bans were handed out by people who actually contribute in that section of RS. Not just unknown moderators or admin, let alone **** face Wise.
It's a sad situation. I like RS myself. I am only not posting there as I don't want to get in trouble. Joe O will tell you I already tame it down on there as it is...He has actually brought it up before in conversation on there. As I explained to him then, I know the rules there and I tone it down a bit specifically for them. But If i have to tone it down anymore than I already do, I may as well just read...which I am quite happy to do.
