I have added a couple of pics here of the two new figures I bought in my daughters Star Wars display cabinet. I thought I would just post these pics, as I know for most people two relatively common loose figures is hardly a reason to be excited. I received these in the post today, opened them up and the smell of plastic took me back 30 years.

These two characters were my favourites, and the look and feel of them really surprised me, it took me back to a more innocent time, where I could, as a child, spend hours playing in building sand with all my figures and vehicles.

This cabinet is in my eldest daughters bedroom, and currently contains miniatures and some hero clix figures. I cant wait for my daughter to come in a couple of weekends and see the two vintage figures I have bought, I know she is going to love them. I have decided that actually I don't know that I want MoCs, etc. I think the ability to touch the figures, smell them and see them as I remember them will mean I will collect the loose figures and ships at least initially. I may well consider buying some of the cheapest MOCs just to have examples of the cardbacks.

Just thought I would post my entry into collecting, even if it is a low level, and know that if I buy your loose figures my daughter and I will spend hours looking at them and admiring them and sharing memories. At the moment I am going through a rough time with her and how she feels about school and other people, having something else to share is another way for us to share our passions.

You can't beat a Detolf cabinet! Love the BS and Stormtrooper, nice!

It's funny as we spent a half hour putting the cabinet together, I taught her about using screw drivers, allan keys, wiring, etc! It was a way to get excited about showing off those SW Minis she has in boxes!

Welcome to the boards and those new figures look cool, good luck on your collecting, great that your sharing the fun with your daughter

At least you have a display. I have NOTHING on display. A small flat and a wife who is very picky about how the place looks

Welcome to the forum, great to enjoy a shared hobby with a child. Looking forward to seeing it grow.

Like Jizabel said, you can't beat a detolf.

Sending a PM buddy

Everyone has to start somewhere, and those are 2 nice figures to own (I always liked the Imperials!). As nice as it is to have a large collection, in truth most of the excitement is in building the collection, not in owning it. So for you and your daughter to be at (or near) the beginning of your Star Wars collecting journey is something many people here might actually envy. I hope you both enjoy every moment of chasing down, acquiring and admiring your expanding collection. And don't forget to keep us updated as it expands! :)

Welcome and good luck on the collecting journey!

I get a lot of joy talking Star Wars with my 7 year old daughter and she loves seeing new figures come in - its a big part of the fun!

Welcome to the forum mate,, you will have to let us know what your daughter thought when she see's the figures.

I'll try to take a sneaky picture of her when she goes in there, I will pretend she needs to tidy the cabinet or close the door on it. I should have a couple of other pieces by then too (a Slave 1 and ISP-6). We have talked about them and how they are hers, she has said she is never going to sell them!

We are always talking about Star Wars, I buy her the Dark Horse comic Omnibus and her favourite series is the original comic series from the 70s/80s. When we went to see Force Awakens she was in tears, and so her journey has started in to being a Star Wars geek, we have been watching Star Wars for 5 years now. I am thinking of selling off the overly large Legacy Falcon I bought as she doesnt really play with that (its too big to move around), I will then use it to buy more vintage stuff.

Plus thanks for the welcome guys!
