Cheers Pete- I would have thought the ledy would have been more than the vc. £315 is a very strong price for an ungraded jawa.

It is a strong price for an ungraded one but as this is a trusted collector/seller you know it's real and likely very good condition. Get it graded and you could sell it straight away for 500 so not that dear really.

I'm pretty sure VC jawas will come down in price again before too long, a lot of the figs have price trends and the VCJ's time is now :)

Yeah they're a strange breed. Not rare at all. You see 1 or 2 of these for sale every week. The price is baffling.

I have watched every single one of this auctions. THEY ARE UNBELIABLE. The majoriity of these variants such as the first shot IG88 i never knew existed never mind have seen pop up on ebay. Now if i hapened to be the lucky soul who scooped the 161 million euro jackpot i would make sure i won every single item!  I sure you all agree guys????

Adam does have some great stuff, it seems a shame he's selling up and he's going to be going to the post office every day for the next month

If i won the 160 million id be too busy buying houses and cars and travling to mess about with ebay lol.

All fair comments i spose, i totaly understand the variants going for this money but some of the figures have gone for bucks and arnt that rare tbh and can be had in the same cond for less.To me makes no sence.

If a seller has nice things, this sometimes creates a sort of frenzy among buyers, which can lead to higher prices for the rest of his stuff.

I dont expect any funny business here chewy. It might seem surprising but there is a captive audience. Some of the items he is selling will bring in alot of traffic. Once they look at one of Adams items they will naturally click "see other items" and then the bidding begins.

Im not going to argue that many of these items didnt go for quite alot more than they are usually selling for but thats the way ebay goes some days.

I always think: If its not worth it or you cant afford it, dont bid. Everyone has their own mantra to collecting. Many people will always pay a premium for buying from experienced and well respected sellers for obvious reasons.

He's deffo got some lovely figures for sale but why does he have to take all of his pics on that bloody stupid angle. My neck was hurting after the second listing.

Maybe that's his secret, people might bid higher with their necks on a 50º angle?

Yep lots of figures went for top, top dollar. I think some people missed out on what they actually wanted & put in high bids for the 'simple' figures just to win something out of Adam's collection. I know some of my bids were IMO too high & I still missed out :( I say: well done to Adam & good luck with buying his house ( I think that's why he's selling up ) The most unusual non sale was the Takara C3PO that didn't meet reserve ( I fell asleep)

Adam is a good guy and i have bought some things from him before. There are a few very interesting items that he is selling but the majority are standard variants and nothing out of the ordinary. I think all the attention that has been drawn to his auction has definaitely inflated the prices. I've also seen some very inexperienced buyers pay well over value on many of the items. I mean £130 for a tri Logo Luke Bespin with paint missing to hair (more like £30), £80 for a Meccano Walrus man (More like £35), £260 for Dark Brown Rebel Soldier (more like £140), dark brown haired Luke with discoured arm for £90 (more like £45).

Personally I wont be bidding on anything even though there are some things I am interested in. There is NO WAY I'm bidding against inexperienced buyers who are willing to pay double or triple the true price on these figures. I'll just be a bit more patient and pick them up for their true value.

Finally I've got to say good luck to Adam. I hope all his figures sell way over price - and he makes loads of cash out of it - he deserves it. If there are people out there stupid enough to pay these kind of prices for things they know nothing about, thats there fault.

At last someone who understands what im saying it was odd.

Are they normal prices for the Takara figures? 500 quid for the vader

Yes I was very surprised to see that one go so high. I would say £200 would be the expected price for a Takara vader. Even stranger considering the Stormtrooper only sold for £440, which is far rarer!

I have been watching these auctions like a lot of us have and must say the bids just went really silly! I had my eye on the dark brown rebel soldier when it got to £170 i walked away could not believe that it went for £265 in the end. I have seen this before when good stuff comes up! it can go to silly bids! More power to the seller i say! good for him!

I think listing around 200 items (all linked to the same seller) with a few high profile items thrown in really adds to the number of views and therefore bids. Not to mention all the links from discussions like this :)

When / If, I sell my collection - thats how I will go about it for sure. Got a few more years in me yet though :)

Just look at that Romba though - madness - and still not reached it's reserve.

I have to say this piqued my interest especially the Burgundy Cape Bib but the few bits I bid on went well over their typical value, even for mintastic examples.

That Romba is one of a handful at most http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB1&Number=3511357&Forum=f1&Words=Romba&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Main=3511357&Search=true&where=bodysub&Name=&daterange=1&newerval=4&newertype=y&olderval=&oldertype=&bodyprev=#Post3511357
Still crazy dollars.

Well considering this is posted at the end of that thread.....

Hello all, I just wanted to post this info on where mine came from and 1 other.

Originally from Tom D.'s personal collection

Acquired between 1998-2001

Came from standard production collection (could have been a Cincinnati contact, but not sold as a prototype or for any premium) – actually think I paid about $5 per figure averaged across 150-200 figures. I didn't notice the variant until 2001-2002 when I was inventorying about 1,500 figures from multiple collections which had been sitting untouched in CC's warehouse

Mold has identical date stamping, molded in dark brown

Hood is the light brown plastic, but painted to exactly match belt

No other prototypes, pre-production, or strange variants in the collection, but there were originally 2 of these identical Rombas. The lesser grade example was sold in about 2001-2002.

I hope this helps

Thanks,

Tom

Thanks Jeff

No other figures out of the 150-200 were proto's except these two chocolate Romba's?
I'd say it is more likely the 'Hood', is the only thing pre production about it, given the fact that is the only similarity between it and the other figures discussed in that thread.
From what I can tell anyway. Tom certainly didn't seem to think it was anything special when he had it in his hands on more than one occasion. Once when he bought the figures, and the second time when he catalogued them all.

* Of course that is if this figure, Adam, has up now, is the same one he used to compare with, Jeff's, in that thread , James, just posted. The pics aren't there now, so obviously I am assuming it is.

* Having read that thread again, it seems that was the conclusion Josh Blake came up with also.

Am I wrong here? Does anyone know what Jeff's was graded as?

Nah I think the figure is pre production, Jeff said his has a date stamp as well. Mattias seemed to think it was a first shot too. I class it together with the HK Wicket - perhaps no 'proof' or provenance that they are first shots- but they certainly are not production pieces.
