China COO

China COO figure:

As promised a new update in relation to the China COO figure. Having received a couple of new painted face figures i had a closer look at the paint application on the figures. Noticeable difference between a couple of them. The following pictures show that there is a light and darker eye paint application available.

Body Sculpt update:

Ok. Had a closer look at the different variants...having discussed the obvious sculpt differences on the neckline on the figures on page 2, here are a couple of other sculpt differences worth pointing out between the China COO figure and the Hong Kong COO and No COO figures.

First up, there is a noticeable difference on the front creases in the shirt. Highlighted below, the China COO figure has 4 creases as opposed to 2 on the other variants.

IMG_20160315_165153.jpg

The second thing that I noticed was a definite grey 'lip' on the right lapel of the Hong Kong COO and No COO figures that isn't present on the China COO figure. I have examined all 31 loose variants I currently have and this is a feature throughout!

These new sculpt updates, alongside the neckline difference and back pack stripes, should make identifying a China COO figure on card very easy.

outstanding update jeff, I love your work

Could be cool if you would add the info about the coo that could be found on the palitoy moc

Just for you Lars... :D

I added the link on page 2, but here are a couple of pictures of the Palitoy 65 back cards with varying COO figures. It appears that all three coo variants were available on the Palitoy 65 back 'Made in Hong Kong' card.

It is quite apparent that the mix of COO and cardback origins is not limited to only Palitoy cardback. Here's my example of a Kenner 79 back "Made in Hong Kong" cardback. The figure is 100% a China COO...

I've actually yet to find a Hong Kong COO figure on a Hong Kong cardback :?

China COO / Hong Kong, No COO Sculpt Differences

Noticed a couple of other differences between the sculpts of the China COO figure compared to the Hong Kong and No COO figures.

First up, there is a distinctly different Sculpt on the rear pouches of the China COO figure. The two pouches are connected as opposed to a gap between them on the Hong Kong and No COO figures...

Next small difference between the COO is on the Boot wader buttons. The China COO figure has the buttons on both feet recessed into 'dimples'. The Hong Kong and No COO figures have much more defined buttons sticking out....

When referencing the China COO figure in the sculpt differences, I am including both the Moulded head and the painted face variants.

Both have the same sculpt characteristics/differences compared to the Hong Kong and No COO figures.

Boot Colour.

Took out my loose figures to have a look today. Small difference that was worth documenting. The Hong Kong COO figure has two different boot colours available. Dark and light Brown, shown here.

Here's a picture of the recent Polish bootleg figures I picked up. Green figure comes with Black paint boots. Purple figure has 'Turquoise' boots

No COO figure

Just a quick update in relation to the No COO figure. Discovered that there are two different face paint applications. One is noticeably darker than the other.

Sculpt difference:

Noticed another small sculpt difference between the China COO figure and the Hong Kong and No COO figures. The China COO figure, shown below in the middle, has 'smooth' rear pocket flaps at the back. The Hong Kong and No COO figures have a noticeable creases in the pocket flaps.

Yes I can't wait to see your next update :D I also need to update the 8D8 thread

Unarticulated, Polish Bootleg figures:

Picked these two figures up from a Childhood collection in Poland. Totally unarticulated figures.
I really like the colour scheme on the purple figure...
Appear to be sculpted on the No COO mould.. (Discussed further below)
I will get comparison shots alongside a regular No COO figure asap.

Comparison to Standard No COO figure:

Here's a few pictures showing that the Bootleg figures were moulded with the No COO figure sculpt. Similar leg markings, Backpacks, rear pocket sculpts etc.
The only noticeable difference between the figures is the size. The bootleg figures are considerably smaller as shown here...

Finally, the similar sculpt characteristics continue on the front of the figures. The creases in the shirt are the same as seen alongside the No COO figure...
