My Stolen Collection - Update

lol what a twonk, clever enough to crack open the AFA case to get it UKG graded but dumb enough not to do anything about the sticker, even if leaving a small rip or inking it for a lesser grade and profit would be better than being caught.

The thing is now though, if UKG can tell you who sent them the item to be graded which I suspect was Ben, theres even more a chance he was the thief as theres just too many coincidences to be coincidences.

good work Joe.

BTW never heard of SWCC or ben till today

i can and am quite willing to tell you who sent the luke bespin to ukg for grading, it was me! i bought it from a third party and not from ben directly, it was bought ungraded so it had obviously been broken out of its case before i got it and i sent it to ukg for grading with all my gm mocs i got from toytoni. the tie pilot i also bought but that was a couple of years previous from ben himself and was sold nearly a year to the day before the luke bespin and was long before i found out it was stolen which is when edd told me i may have one of his stolen mocs for sale. by this point i had already done a deal for the luke bespin and felt i should honour the sale, the cash however i put to one side, it was sold for £200 + postage and i am also quite happy to split this with edd if asked even though it means financial loss to myself.

at the end of the day we all buy, sell to each other via ebay, the forums and via pm, let me just ask how many of you ask if a figure is stolen before you buy it? i dont expect to see a large show of hands.

by the way joe, thankyou for removing my ebay username from the screenshots you posted i appriciate the gesture but as i feel im up to my neck in the **** anyway i see no more point in hiding the fact. :(

I was thinking old age had set in Edd and I had lost my memory as couldnt remember a thing about Leia, see its changed now :p

Hi Edd, what a sad story. But I am glad to know you have found the thief and got some of the moc back. I hope you get everything back in the future.

Great work joe

No problem Jim, I didn't think you would appreciate your name being all over those and as I knew Edd was confident you were not involved directly and merely a buyer of stolen goods that there really wasn't much point leaving your name on there to cause you any trouble.

I must admit when this all came to light it didn't look very good for a number of people yourself included but as you were not part of the entire thing apart from coming to own some stolen figures any "attachment" to this that you may have in the eyes of other collectors hopefully won't last long and won't affect your sales or collecting goals or anything.

I think Edd has been really cool about everything and he has stated he isn't wanting his figures back or anyone to send him money for them but I am sure he appreciates the offers from the likes of yourself and Lee Gregory of some kind of compensation.

(Unrelated but I always wanted to ask, am I really a ****? I remember being told by someone else that I was called one on SWCC  )

Good to hear you'll get some of your stuff back Edd.

What a sad story this and I agree it doesn't look good for Ben. Has he ever limelighted some of these?

Lol! Yes that was probably me, aplogies for that, it was obviously a good while ago in my dark period when I had no idea about you, but as you know opinions change and as most people will tell you cunts are usefull. :D

Hey I'd rather be a useful **** than just a **** ;) Works for me, thanks for the apology lol

Yes, the UKG 85 ESB R2-D2 in his focus used to be my AFA 90 R2-D2 :(

Bloody hell, i had to go away with work for 9 days and i've missed all sorts!!
Ultimately;
It's great that you have been reunited with your (most of your) collection.
It's also great that your insurance company recognised what you had.
It's also great that the hobby/passion has folk like Joe around.
It's also great that we can read this thread and learn from the misfortune (photo everything etc).
Shame about such an obvious low life.
Onwards and upwards Ed, F##k him,

Cheers!

Recovered stolen property is usually auctioned off if an insurance payout has been made?

And just to be a ****: legally- ignorance is no excuse, if you are in possession of stolen property you are committing a crime.

Edd are you buying back the parts of your collection the insurance company find ?
I'm assuming they are selling it because it is theirs.

Anyway I'm happy this sad affair is finally coming to a conclusion.

dang thats devalued it on 2 counts.

And Jim, just saw your other post just now, I was thinking that was dumb of him to do that, they should have done something about the sticker too though.
Noone really would know if they are buying stolen goods to be fair if i had been offered some of them, I would not have thought for a second, wonder if these are stolen.

As everyone else has said, glad this is coming to an end for you Edd.

You've handled the whole thing with impressive restraint, not sure I could have done the same.

Im sure I will meet this Ben at some point, Bournemouth only has so many Star Wars fans

good news edd, but it sickens me that there are such scumbags in this hobby. Ben is worse than Billy boy in my opinion

Man that's crazy , never knew the back ground to this . It really is sad that another collector would be involved in any way.
And/or so stupidly desperate ,, think about it , ever collector collects for themselves but shows off or limelights for others to see or enjoy . So why the **** would you steal /buy a stolen collection to then have? And even selling it on surely you would expect that some collector would spot a moc and say ahh thats ed's ?
Moc are almost always unique unless they are casefresh which is rare.

I'm really glad this has all come to light edd. I've ended my membership on swcc as I felt Ben should really have been banned outright but given the circumstances and his position that was never likely.

The main thing is that its out and you can at least have a bit of ckosure. I know it must have been a really tough few months and i think you have played it remarkably cool considering.

Chris.
