So since I am new here and new to collecting . What I want to do is get your thoughts.
I am going to start with the Vintage line (budget lol) but I wanted your thoughts on the one figure you wished you had started with.
I guess you could say this is poll.
Anyways have a wonderful day.

Well, I'm old enough to have collected the original Star Wars line when it first came out in the UK in 1978. The figure I wanted most of all back then right at the start of it all, was the original Luke Skywalker (these days renamed Luke Farmboy by most collectors to more clearly identify / differentiate it). I think if I was starting a collection from scratch today, the first figure I would want would probably be that same Luke.

Good luck with your collecting and keep us posted and how you get on :)

Mine was R2-D2 closely followed by
C-3PO, can remember getting them with Christmas money from Woolworths, think they were £1.49 each 🤩

Do miss it, used to go nearly every Saturday with my Grandma to pick a toy, always SW, then off to Wimpy for burger and chips and a knickerbocker glory....Happy Times

My first two figures were R5D4 and Death Star Droid, on my 7th Birthday. Both from Zodiac toys in Swindon.

If I was starting again, it would be one of Boba Fett, Luke X-Wing, Snowtrooper, Stormtrooper, AT-AT Driver or Royal Guard.

Oh my I apologies I meant the Vintage Collection. Yikes okay I just showed how new I am lol. I apologies . But everything you recommended is on my list . Those are my grails as far as the Original A backs but that will take time, or if my brother loves me haha

So the Vintage Collection is classed as modern so this thread might want to move to that section.

But focusing on the line itself, it is quite frankly massive: https://galacticfigures.com/star-wars-figures.aspx?type=toyline&typeName=tvc
Including exclusives, reissues (some of which had paint upgrades), vehicles, playlets, Haslab stuff etc. 400+ figures at least, with some of the figures from the original line (2010-2013) going for as much as (or very close to) an original 80's kenner carded figures now - The EU characters from back then are cracking, but for me it was the Phantom Menace figures from that line that stand out. If my budget (and storage space) ever allow I'd love to go back and get the EPII & EPIII figures from that run.

Good luck getting going with a run though - that's a lot of collecting :)

I have kinda plan but for me they fit into budget and can lead to the more expensive toys I used to have when I was little. Honestly for me and probably for many of us these toys, and figures tell a story about our childhood which is kinda neat.

Toys were built differently back then, made to last, I've still got 40+ year old space lego that's perfect. Good luck with your collecting 👍

I agree, I'm not interested in monetary valued, it's about collecting what makes you feel happy, and SW has been a big part of my life since I was a wee lad 😉

It's mainly R2-D2s I collect got loads of them, not about the money just the thrill of it

A loose complete Bossk was my first vintage figure as an "adult." I ordered him from a store in the back of the Tomart guide back in the 90's. I was a sophomore in college and had a limited budget. I slowly picked up quality loose figures to decorate my dorm room.

A Jawa received as a 4th birthday gift. I still have the Jawa. I don't recall the blaster. Card long gone.

My First as a kid was, so I'm told, Luke, around 1978

The first figures I had as an adult were a small collection of imperial ones - can't remember the exact ones, but I think TFP and AT AT driver were amongst them. These were a 20th birthday present.

The first figure I bought as an adult collector was Han Trench Coat and B-wing pilot...The only 2 I knew I didn't have as I had no idea about the full range with the last 17 figures. Carboot sale in late 1992

First carded figure was an Imperial gunner on a Trilogo card in 2001. still have it!
