I've just bought a skateboard, my son has got into scooters so rather than stand in the skate park I thought I'd try and join in. I haven't used one since about 1998, I was a keen skater in the early 90s but it's going to be like starting from scratch again. I've also bought a helmet and pads, would rather look like an idiot than kill myself. I'll let you know when I break my wrist/leg

When I got my first skateboard in 1990 the going rate was about £125 for a decent one, that price point was consistent until I stopped in the late 90s. You can still spend a couple of hundred quid on one if you buy all the bits separately, but there are some absolute bargains for complete ones from reputable brands (Santa Cruz, Alien Workshop, Element, Blind etc.) The one I bought was under £50!
