So Matt Smith is leaving Who.

As a massive who fan (new Who and classic) I am sorry to see him go. He did a good job in filing the massive boots left by Tennant. Didn't quite fill them IMO but still.

The way I see it, Ecclestone was the new Pertwee. A very good doctor who reinvented the role. Tennant was the new Baker. Amazing, incredible that gave the role identity and a massive following. Smith was the new Davidson. Good job, always in the previous roles shadow.

So the next guy, the new Colin Baker. I worry for the future of New Who. Can see the end once more :(

This is a real shame I liked Smith.
However I have to say the last 8 episodes have been poor for me. Lost all interest watching the last 3.
Typical over reliance on that bloody screwdriver!

Good. Never rated Smith. As you say Jamie always in the shadow of Tenant. May give a watch again now depending on who the new doctor is 8)

I think Smith did a reasonable job but Tennant was bloody brilliant. I think they have to go for another relative unknown again and don't really want to see all this PC crap about it being a woman

Yep Tennant set the standard pretty high - Smith was always going to have an uphill struggle to keep the fans happy. Dr Who used to be prime family viewing for us but we stopped watching not long after Smith took over, didn't help that the quality of writing took a massive dip. Just lost interest in the programme.

Couldnt agree more! :)

I really liked the jovial way Matt Smith went about himself, a very quirky character but not as good as Ecclestone or Tennant, for me I would have loved to see Ecclestone do another series.

I know my son will definitely miss him because that is who he has grown up with, although now he knows Tennant is also Twiggs he is getting into him and he claims that Davidson is his favourite despite never having watched him

Isn't it so that the Dr only has 12 regenerations? And therefore this will be the last dr :?

At last some good news

Sorry to burst your bubbles, but if he has 12 regenerations then doc 13 will be the last one.

Actually Doc 13 would be a good rebranding for the last series then to open it up for.......

Doc 14 Attack of the Clone

It is sad he is going. Thought he did a great job following DT.

I think they will get round the 12 regeneration thing as technically Matt Smith is the last regeneration. Remember David Tennant regenerated into himself after he was shot by a dalek at the end of series 4 .

I think Rory Kinnear may be the next Doctor as he has apparently. Been offered it.

It seems like only the other day Matt Smith started though !
