Loud bangs in sky, what's it all about?

Langoliers is classic! that's what I think you southerners are hearing. 'crunch crunch crunch!'

Up north we just assume its a dis-used pit under our houses :wink:

The only banging I hear in the night is from my 40 something neighbour when a bloke in a BMW turns up bi-weekly.

I would say it's almost definitely military exercises, tank or heavy gunfire. Near where I'm from in Essex there's a military firing range and you could often hear loud distant bangs and explosions. Sometimes it would sound like ****ing Beirut!

Heard a load of loud pops and bangs in the distance for about an hour and a half this morning. I would imagine it is usually military training. Not sure how far the nearest training ground is from me though.
