Just wandering if anyone has any thoughts on those loud bangs that have been heard. Not heard much about it but apparently you could hear them over the east of England and Belgium. Any ideas?

We get them here in north wales, I have heard rumours its naval fleet gun tests, but thats just speculation, I have heard it a great many times when out fishing or walking & its rather disconcerting TBH, really would like to know what it is, not sure if its the same thing thats been heard elsewhere

There are a few ideas bouncing around for what these noises are...

My Fav's are the 6x the speed of sound Aurora sound spy plane creating sonic booms or people letting off noise based fireworks as some sort of marketing campaign for a movie or event thats on its way.

Its a nice modern day mystery, it reminded me of the Hum http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hum

I do find these hard to take seriously without hearing them myself though.

Meant it was a bug that people have got about a humming noise, I find jokes are funnier if you have to explain them and your the only one that think they are funny

I've got loads of them

Not heard anything of the sort in my neck of the woods. I am intrigued. Anyone got any links?

Sorry its from the Mirror

Just Google 'Loud bangs in uK' and you will get lots of results, unfortuantely most of the results are from the tabloids but I am sure more interesting links will pop up further down the search results.

Sorry Mike, completely missed that one. It didn't rhyme so I had trouble translating it :D

BTW not too bad now I get it

That hum thing is freaky, the noise I get here off the cost in the Irish sea is a bit of a mix of the two, not really a bang or a hum, more like a distant rumble that you just can't put your finger on, I thought I was losing it first time I heard it, as its like you're hearing an earthquake from many many miles away, luckily the other half could hear it as well & when me & Scott (Snaggletooth) went fishing he could hear it as well, though its one of those noises that not noticeable, until you tune in to it, then its like WTF is going on & you hear it constantly, then all of a sudden it stops, propper freak show.

Freaky but these things usually have mundane explanations.

The Hum is a good one though, a few cases have been solved but as soon as one is solved it kind of discredits the rest for me. In densely populated areas it could be a number of unseen mechanical/industrial activities, even in rural areas you can never be to sure what machinery is at work around the corner or below your feet.

I do like to read the more nefarious claims as to what causes some of these phenomena though, they are usually far more entertaining. :D

There are loads of different theories on the bangs, sonic booms, secret plane testing, weather phenomena, it just goes to prove that mans basic instincts if they can't explain something is to default to the fantastical, but there i s 99% of the time a rational explanation! which in am sure will come out in the end.

Personally I like to think that it's the Force Awakening ! :D
