Long Time suspected FAKE baggies scam / seller

Just done some digging through emails & I do have the info regarding the red text baggies & am happy to do screen shots if needed to confirm.

Frank, if you're happy to do that it would be helpful, for me anyway.

I don't think that response by Jeff is adequate as far as shedding any light to the source of the baggies. It's nice to offer refunds and your email but saying you dont have a lot of time due to family constraints and saying you simply bought a ton of baggies doesn't address:

1. Why were previously outed fake bags then reposted/resold as legit ones
2. Where did the majority of the baggies come from and was there a single large source of fake ones bought elsewhere
3. The simple answer the the question: did Jeff directly manufacture and create fake baggies, yes or no?

The FB post simply doesn't answer any of the core concerns that collectors have regarding this whole shitshow.

Sorry I missed the name of the Ebay user that he bought many baggies from. It would be interesting to see some screenshots of purchased items from Ebay to support that fake baggies were bought in BULK from a particular seller. If they look fake in the ebay listings, then they were fake before Jeff got them, pure and simple. I'm sure other people he bought from could be supported with screen shots as well.

This is what will happen at the end of the day - and a lot of you guys who have been spectators for the Toy Toni crap, personal fights between collectors, or whatever situation where someone is accused of wrongdoing - the accused will deny it. Deny deny deny deny. Have ANY of you guys who have been collecting for 10-15 years EVER seen the accused step forward and say, "ok, you got me, I did it and was wrong." It has NEVER happened. And the only time it has happened, was when concrete evidence was displayed and further denial would simply look insane.

I'm not saying that the following applies to Jeff (I have no dog in this fight, although I know Frank and know he wouldn't ever come forth with this kind of info unless it was rock solid) - but at the end of the day, liars are gonna lie, cheaters are gonna cheat. People don't change, and people will deny the truth until they are blue in the face, because it is very hard to prove these things without a shadow of doubt. Everyone will just have to make their own conclusions with the information put forth. Its just a shame that in this context, good collectors are getting ****ed out of thousands of dollars because somebody along the line is acting like a criminal.

I don't understand this bashing on Frank for the way this was handled. Did toy Toni get contacted prior to being outed in a forum? Did Billyboy? Scott McWilliams? No, that's not how information comes to light. Frank and others saw fakes being passed around and they did contact him at least regarding the red text baggies if I am reading this right. He then removed the fake items to only list them again later.

This guy is no different from the ones I noted above, in fact want to see the similarities to the one involving baggies?

This guy has friends in the community just as these others did. Now he says his paypal has been frozen? I am sure that may be true. People filing claims when there is no balance in there will freeze the account. There were die hard friends who stood by some of these other guys also if you read through some of the old threads regarding them. I think given the amount of information that was looked at Frank and the others handled this most appropriately especially given that the seller was continuing to sell these fake items. Also he has collected baggies how long? Many years according to his own response (the 90's so now going on 27 years), yet he didn't see that three different baggie types he has in hand were fakes until he was told last night? I don't know if he is the manufacturer of these, but frankly I expected this type of response. I mean what does he gain from saying yes I knew or yes I did it? Nothing. What does he gain from denying it and trying to throw it onto a "source"? He gets to keep selling. As others have said regardless of his part in the overall, lets not cloud the issue of his being told he had fakes and selling them, and this isn't even the first time he has been outed with fakes. Some of you said he had them at a convention and the previous linked thread in here where Joe posted about his having fakes also. The Joe thread is years old, so has the same source been selling him fakes for years and he has continued to buy them? I mean come on.....getting burned on one batch of fakes as a seller surely he would check things a bit closer in future transactions.

That's what I was getting at, but you explained it in much more detail. I was thinking of McWilliams myself, as far as a guy who had well respected friends, who didn't want to believe what he was doing at first. It's a natural response.

I have!!!

It happened once with Wolff. Caught painting figures. To his credit, he did step forward, apologized profusely, and has worked hard to clear his name since. In my opinion, his is a great story of how someone can come back from a bad situation and become a valued part of the hobby again.

Ian I was actually thinking of Wolff partially when I was writing this - but I thought all that happened because there was proof brought forth by someone else? I do agree that it was a rare instance of someone making amends, and subsequently being a stand-up and great collector afterwards

I think that was a poor response, if I had been called out like that and had done nothing wrong I would be seething about it tbh, I thought the whole im at work and am busy was very blase

The whole I can't remember the guy I got the baggies of name sounds a lot like I got them of this guy down the pub but I didn't catch his name also seemed really blasé regarding that imo, has anyone ever heard of this Gratson, surely someone knows who he is?

Given the high profile nature of this thread and the amount of traffic it is driving I'd expect to see more people who have brought baggies from Jeff posting pictures asking if theirs are fake now that we are 24 hours on.

I know one fake is bad enough but would it be safe to assume whether these were produced by Jeff or not, that market hasn't been flooded with them?

Is it worth keeping a count of how many suspected fakes purchased from Jeff have been identified?

Unfortunately the analogy with BBR looks very accurate.

Next phases are to start communicating by means of a pseudonym (girlfriend or brother in law), then feign serious illness then death!

Billy Boy only refunded anyone that could cause trouble for him, I hope Jeff will refund everyone affected.

Jez, Pete and I have spent an hour interviewing Jeff addressing this issue. We've been hard and pushed points many times from the initial post and from some great questions further on. We will release this on the next podcast. We are more than happy to have anyone with knowledge for a followup interview to respond to the points he brings up.

To clarify our positions before tonight and to address accusations of being his friend:

I have spoken to Jeff for no more than 5 mins and purchased 3 baggies. I returned one as I already owned it and misread the description.
Jez has talked to Jeff for max 3 mins
Pete has only talked briefly

We want to get to the bottom of this as much as the next person.

"I was hounded years ago on RS for outing Jeff Glanville baggies. I just avoided buying from him after 2 in a row bad items. 1st time it was a 'shock' and collectors backed him to the hilt (buying too much?) so I never bought again. 1st time included a repro mail away flyer with resealed EB baggies in an EB set. 2nd time it was by chance when a flipper sold a faked Fett Mailer as genuine, the box was new card, box print was off and the insert was just a bad copy. eBay refunded me when I proved it was counterfeit to them. Original seller refused to refund or look at the comparison pics sent, claimed he recently bought it from the lauded Jeff Glanville who told his buyer it was genuine and I was a scammer! F**k me, that'll teach you! Reminds me of the EB Set: Jeff explained his baggies came from a mate in the US but wouldn't name his supplier and he only sold SW baggies as a way to supplement his income and wasn't an expert. He was not responsible! Does explain why some of the type set I've seen on baggies is different for SW-B's and D's compared to original to content items, never mind some of the obvious differences pointed out in Franks post on all the baggie types."
