I wonder if they didn't have insurance for this event due to insurance companies not giving insurance to premises that close to the river. Bit like houses that are in area's liable to flooding, you either can't get insurance or its extortionate.

Quick update guys,

Got home from work and found out the hotel have done the decent thing and refunded our money into Amy's bank account.

It has been a quite stressful couple of weeks but with your help and support we have gotten through a difficult time.

As said before mate (and I would be amazed if anyone else disagrees) keep the money and get something nice for you and your wife - you have both been through hell in the past couple of weeks and deserve a treat
