I find this interesting. For those who don't know who Kyle is he is the writer and director of Fanboys and a couple of other films. His wife Jamie King is a voice actor in Clone Wars. This is what he had to say in a RebelForceRadio special:

Luke rejected the Jedi path at the end of ROTJ to save his father. There is no way he would have re-established the jedi knights. Moisture farming is all he knew. Perhaps he went back, quietly, to Tatooine to settle down with a wife.
Leia gets involved in the senate.
A dark jedi - not Sith - emerges. They want to train a Sith. Who better than Leia and Han's daughter. They kidnap her. Han and Chewie pursue the kidnapper. Leia appeals to Luke but he is not keen. Han is killed. Luke then reappears to rescue the daughter.

This is nothing like the EU and I find it interesting that Luke may just end up being humble Ben post Jedi.

He also states righouesly that any criticism if George Lucas (the Mesiah) the Special editions and the prequels means we are not 'true Star Wars fans' and should 'shut up'.

I find his dogmatism and self righteousness polarising and tedious. It's like a Star Wars creationist version of Bill Nye.

But his ideas are interesting. :p

I think the EU theory to move forward with Luke re establishing the Jedi knights is a logical path simply because of palpatines edict to wipe out the Jedi previously using Vader as his puppet to do so ( obviously Anakin prior to Vader).

This was the fulcrum of the battle of the light side of the force and the dark side, which Luke fought with and came out of the other end being the Jedi he was and IMO the true chosen one ( as his father anakin was supposed to be) so for him to just turn his back on that and become a moisture farmer doesn't fit for me.

Bollocks to killing off Han, doesn't work for me...I had a hard time with them killing off Chewie :(

I think that's why the EU books are so good to read as the y have a continuous thread from the ROTj ending, Luke's journey full circle back to moisture farming doesn't work for me, that's just my opinion though

I'm sure Disney will just take the 'beats' from the original trilogy and reboot them for these films. Replace the Ben figure with an older Luke. Replace original young heroes with new young heroes. Insert new 'big bad'. Let the good guys win at the end against the odds. Oh and add some foreshadowing to keep the interest going (a good guy turning bad?). It's a safe formulae and one I don't think Disney will gamble with

In my opinion of course

Not sure I like the sound of that plot.

But hey. Give me loads of stormtroopers, ties, AT ATs and some force powers and I'm sure I'd be happy

Let's be thankful he's not on the writing committee for the new films. Dear god.

It appears tatooine is appearing in the new film, so I think Luke returning there for some reason is valid. Not sure if its to be a moisture farmer, more like tidying up the place. In the casting Mark Hamill, Serkis, Anthony Daniels and That bloke from Harry Potter are in the same area, so maybe he's taken 3PO home and a bunch of apprentices with him, creating a sort of force training camp to get force users to develop their powers for good deeds. Or instead he's taken over Wuhers bar, Ponda Baba is rehabilitated and droids are now allowed.

Leia and Han believe its time for their daughter to explore her jedi powers at uncle Luke's drop-in-centre as she's displaying immense powers, but she's showing rogue tendencies due to her precocious nature.

Leia gets involved in the senate.
I really hope politics is left out and she's running around the galaxy slapping people around a bit.

I'd prefer seeing luke bumped off. Maybe in Lukes tatooine training camp it all goes wrong, luke and Potters brother are killed by Adam Driver - dark jedi, somehow getting off the planet with Leia Jr without her knowing or she does and flees thinking she is in major trouble. Boyaga and that Isaac guy go in pursuit. Han & Chewie reunite to save the day, being rescued before certain death by Lando and his fleet of reconditioned ('pimp my ride' style) star destroyers. Billy dee is kept off the credits and isn't announced so its a surprise "I owed you one buddy"

Vader is still the chosen one for me Mike, he killed the Emperor and therefore 'bought balance to the Force', it just took a while for him to get there...

Actually considering the Death Star gets Destroyed you could say Luke and Vader were irrelevant and Lando is the chosen one

As for Newman's ramblings, I would guess that's all they are ramblings. The further from the truth any 'influenced' guesses at the plot are the better for me. I don't want to taint that first viewing, god knows how I am going to resist watching the trailers...

Concede that point, your right, anakin/Vader the chosen one, just that I can't see Luke moisture farming..too boring.

Yup, not to sure about Luke the farmboy again either...

I reckon Han will die though, I think Ford only came back so he could kill him off for good

I reckon any main character deaths will be a practical move. Kill off the richest and least arsed actors first ...so that's most of them then. Harrison Ford has gotta go

I'm annoyed that Kenny Baker gets to be in episode 7, even if it's just a credit. He's done that much winging about it - "Star Wars is just for kids", and "i'm too old" Anthony Daniels is probably the only original actor who deserves it. He's been crazy for Star Wars all along.

Amen to that. I am so happy that Daniels is in the movie, not so much about Baker. He isn´t needed and nobody of the ´rejectors´should come back.

Also, I hope the old characters are mere hosts to new blood. We´ll see (and enjoy anyway  )
