I've just gone through this thread and I just had to say WOW. The detailing is amazing. I really look forward to following the completion of this awesome sail barge.

Hey no more bumps!!!!

I get all excited thinking its gonna be another update

Its a great thread Leon, bookmark it

DONT SHOOT ME......THIS IS NO UPADTE!!!

I know...it has been a long time...and there is not one single step done to the Khetanna...sadly. I thought it is maybe a good idea anyway to say high and give an update on the status! ;) :D

After moving I needed to repair a lot of my other stuff (still ongoing) and also wanted to build another display cabinet for my collection! I also needed first to build up the collection "room" (more a niche) again with the cabintes and dioramas...as said...some stuff got sadly damaged and needed repair.

Here are a few pics:

1. Building up the cabinets:

2. Washing my collection...still ongoing...it's about 1000+ figures and also some ships.....darrrrrnnnn

3. Building a new cabinet for the ships. I used two Billys ....second one shortened and glued together...now they are double deep and the shleves can be varied very good for that kind of use....the lightening is now finished! 9 meters of LED stripes...LOL

4. Sigh...the hardest part...my very old Tantive diorama. It was heavily damaged while moving. I wanted to redo some stuff anyway, but seriously...the time I have now put in this... I could have done it completley new.....and muuuuuch better. It is the most frustrating thing I have ever done.
I needed to redo the broken parts. I wanted a new color all over it because there went some things wrong the first time. I wanted more parts actually lit....not only painted etc etc etc...but most important: I gave the thing sort of stands for figures and I hate them by now. They had to go:

Filler and sanding, sanding, sanding, sanding.......sanding.....
Tantive_001.jpg

Preparing for the black layer:
Tantive_003.jpg

...but before doing it I did some construction "holes" to the floor panels:

Preparing for the white layer:
Tantive_005.jpg

Done.....only some additional paint and the gloss is missing now:
Tantive_006.jpg

...but what the heck is this??? Ahhhhhwwww...dang...again...I remember now...that happened before. Thnis whole piece is an experiment...an the only thing it can do is troubeling me....over and over again....frustrating to the limit:

At least the new lit parts will get good I think:

....anyway.....I will keep you updated as soon as I have gone through all this and continue with the important stuff...the Khetanna!!! :D :D ;)

Regards

Wolff

Nice update. Such a shame about the damage- absolutely gutting :( Was it damaged by the removal company? Hope they've coughed up some compo if so! Looking forward to seeing this when it's all finished- your skills are amazing!

Great to see a post Wolff hope your settled in.

The damage is a shame, but then again your attention to detail is fantastic as always, the diorama is looking great, love the cabinets, and the figure shower room :)

Love the ships with the red lighting looks superb

Great pics

Thank you all for the nice words guys!!! :D

Thanks buddy.....I hope to give the Hoth stuff some blueish lightening....need some experiments for this. For now I can choose every color I want for the whoile cabinet. Anyway...the ships need some extensive cleaning and some repairs.....I will also sell some that are not shown....shame...but well....

Thank you guys!! Very happy to get that positive feedback

Anyway.....I thought I give some news on the Tantive:

1. I repaired the color issues I had....with no more further troubeling....
Tantive_013.jpg

2. BUT...as I removed the masking tape the color of the corridor just went off....sloppy job...my bad.....but as said: I made this very long time ago...
Tantive_014.jpg

3. Okay...then doing the corridor again:

4. Lightening was fixed and renewed:

5. Finally finsihed....PLUS.....I also repaired the Tatooine dio and made a new backdrop. I am not really happy over all but it worked out much better then I thought. Best is the new lightening...sadly it can not be caputered good enough with my camera.. ;)

WOW you have some awesome skills there Wolff
you must be very pleased with the results :D
great work buddy and hope to see a your completed sailbarge one day.

One of my most visited threads... love all the updates and the work involved is astounding.... So cool! 8) 8) 8)

Oh my god! :o

That looks amazing. The corridor just looks like in the film! You've done a wonderful job. Pisses me off when paint reacts like that. Must have been frustrating and time consuming to fix.

Where did you learn to do all this? I've had a little go at things but any diorama is so fiddly I just end up cutting corners and then it looks crap.

Awesome work, I see those display cabinets and dioramas in my wildest dreams! Spectacular.

Probably not news to you, but I use Johnstone's Ultra Primer on surfaces like plastics, quick abrade with soft paper to provide a key then Ultra primer... makes a really sound surface for any decorative paint. It should prevent the wrinkling paint issues. (btw I'm a decorator but with I had such fine skills as yours!)

Always love your updates, good arrows Sir.

Thanks for all the nice words guys! 8)

Okay...wow...it has been forever I think. The last update is almost eight month back!!! Shocking!! I am very sorry for those who waited patiently.

Well moving went fine and nearly nothing broke (one window so far). I lost some sketches which is nothing to worry about but it lasted till I have rethought how I started to plan the handrails...which is a bit annonying.

Well today I just started....finally....and this update is really not that spectacular, but you can see: I am going on with it...the project is still alive!

Making the railing to the rear of the ship: I mainly use five layers of polystyrene to built the railing (glued together piece after piece so I don't have to bend one large pice at once). The struts are made out of wood....the rest can be seen well in the pics I guess.

This thread is one that people won't forget about. We all want to see the latest update :)

As far as the main body of the barge goes are you nearly there with it? I mean is the inside complete now?

Thnaks. Not really done with anything...but wanted to do the railing since forever!

I have to decide some things first to go on with the inner barge...and the decision is not yet made ;)

WOW...thanks guys....so let's go on: ;) :D

The railings are coming along nicely. They are roughly put together now and also roughly sanded:

Khetanna_370.jpg

I noticed a mistake today....well honestly it was three mistakes but I could corrrect two of those (only one pictured ;) ). The last one is concerning the railing to the middle part: I haven't payed attention to the "curving" on the back regarding the front. It simply doesn't match the front railing when I try to put the middle railing straight. I was almost mad because of it, but then I noticed the same on the ILM model....funny....seems they did the same mistake and also came up with the very same solution....more soon...

I hope you like this progress!
