Khetanna - Jabba's Sailbarge - Scratchbuilt Custom

Here is some test shots with the lightning I did today.

The Gargoyles (Ishi Tib) are still missing but I finished the Rancor base and added some more light. Needs to be improved, but I know now what to do. At least it works...LOL. The pillars were transplanted to another place....etc etc

Very interesting project and thread! Amazing work man, you are very creative. This has definitely inspired me, I'll keep an eye on this. I've been thinking for a while now about making some mini film sets/dioramas in scale with the figures. I had an idea to make each pigeon hole in my display cabinet into a different environment. Maybe a Death Star hanger, Jabbas throneroom, Hoth rebel base etc. Prob not anything on the scale of what your doing mind! Hats off to you, nice work :D

Thank you guys!!! Makes me happy!!

Yeah... that's the sort of thing I had in mind, they're wicked! Really nice. Would you say the outside ones are more tricky than the interiors? They look like they would be because you have to make realistic looking rocks and snow etc whereas the interiors you've got straighter/sharper lines to work with. I'll have to do some research, haven't made models since I was a kid. Do you mostly use everyday objects and a bit of kit-bashing? Might give it a go. Cheers

Wow, your updates never fail to amaze me Wolff..

You've got a great eye for detail and while I'm not shocked at how accurate you are being on this project, stuff like this..

Khetanna_295.jpg

..is just taking "accurate" to another level.

The entire project from start to finish is simply amazing, I don't have much more to say than wow X 10,000!

It is one of them when WOW or amazing just doesn't do it..... it is just jaw dropping and when finished will easily be as good as the miniature models used on films.

Stunning mate, and I really mean that.. :D :D

can you do updated photos on your first thread mate, save scrolling through, but well worth scrolling through i might say, amazing stuff!

Thank you guys for the nice comments. Always appreciated!!! 8) 8)

????...not sure if I do understand you buddy??

You mean I should always update the first post?? Or what do you mean with "first thread"??

Of course I could always opnly update the first post, but this also has its cons if you ask me?!?!?

And you can always click the link given in the first post and on every update-post to get an overview:

UPDATE:

The last three weeks was all about filling, sanding, filling, sanding, filling, sanding....and so on. I also had to correct or refine some parts. I still need a new solution for the windows and some other parts as well....but enough with the boring parts.

I have finally completed the ceiling. First I needed to finally install the pillars, make a third one (I used my "proto", shortened it and renewed some parts) and get that stairway installed. The stairway had heavy deformation to some parts. I filled and sanded...and filled and sanded...at least the most annyoing deformations.
Anyway, the pillar in the middle is exactly placed over the stand that is inserted below. So this pillar is very important. It gives the whole thing stability while beeing on the stand.
I also added another "Hutt" symbol to the ceiling paneling.
After trying and trying to get all parts accurate for assembling (middle part, rear, floor and ceiling) it finally works. Boy I can tell you...this was a tough job but everything matches fine now:

The hatch was also finally installed. The break through areas were finally encased and filled and sanded (etc)....

Khetanna_306.jpg

After breaking the throne and arm rest several times over the time I finally also dropped the whole thing... and it broke in pieces....again. After glueing and.....wait a second.... filling and sanding (yawn)....I also finally could prime the floor (after finishing the paneling):

Khetanna_307.jpg

So finally the ceiling and floor are primed and are accurate for assembling:

......to be continued in the next post

So the inside of the barge to the rear and middle part is almost done. What's missing now is the bar area. The "ending" from the playable inner barge to the front.
I started with simply backing the walls and the floor. Then I started to build the bar itself:

It is not yet finished but I am very happy with it for now. What is missing is the whole beer drawing system and of course I first need to prime soem parts before I can finally glue all parts. Also the light will be more yellowish...but you will see in the next updates...stay tuned!

I hope you like it!

Comments/criticism are welcome...

Wow,

It's easy to spout superlatives, but there are none really that can do this justice, love watching the progression of this piece, the meticulous attention to detail is amazing, great update once again, can't wait for the next installment 8) Superb work, stunning piece

More mind blowing work. The interior shots in the throne room with the vented windows and the lighting really show the true quality of your work. It looks real!

Looking forward to seeing the finished bar area. Oh by the way - inspired use of guitar strings on the underside :)

Was just thinking about shelf display ideas after seeing some clever use of radiator covers on a member's display. The LED's you use, I gather they are battery powered? Don't suppose you would let me in on where to get them. Just want something low powered and easy to wire up :)

Yeah, the Khetanna ones are battery powered....therefore weak! Not sure if the light is enough for a whole display?!?!?

The one I use for the Khetanna is very cheap and can be found on ebay: Type in LED and battery. You will find shops where you can choose color and length (10/20/30 LEDs).

Mine costed around 5€ shipped.

But for a display I would recommend you the LED stripes: More light more power, they can be dimmed, etc.
If I remember right you pay around 40€ for 3m with cable and dimmer. You should choose the better LEDs .....I think the correct techincal term is "5050" (The 3528 are weaker and can not change color).
There is also differneces in how many LEDS each meter are used.
The stripes can be cut easily and then you can braze some cables to it and use the rest of it in another display.....anway...here is a pic (Attention...the shelf on this pic is upside down):
