So CE II is over...time for an update:

Finally finished the "engines" I started long ago (see here: http://swspaceclub.com/wbobafett/wp-content/blogs.dir/3/files/khetanna/khetanna_084.jpg)
I needed to buy a model kit (Tank) for the details first. I also added some light. A few "cables" and "wires" will follow later.
Now on with the undersurface.....

Depends on how I make them I guess. To be honest I do not think month or years in future :lol: :lol: , so I haven't thought about that very much. This will be possibly the last thing beeing added! I'm thinking of making them "movable" and then I will go with fabric...

Just had a good look over the last few updates... it's just amazing.
Part of what I love about it is seeing the decision making process - you must be seeing The Khetanna in your sleep! Overcoming problems or improving the design. The extension to the length is spot on, gives a lovely balanced shape to the overall appearance. Really like the overlapped detailing around the door, camouflages it to its neighbouring panelling perfectly, rather like the AT-AT door or battery covers on many of the vintage toys.
The windows look absolutely superb, must have driven you doolally!

Next part will be the undersurface. I already did some work on it, but nothing to show yet. There is the whole grills the undersurfcae with the cabels and so on and the landing gear (three "feet" are in the making right now) and the battery cover for the lightening, the working mechanism on the "wings" etc etc...much to do with the undersurface...LOL

Seriously....material costs (glue!!!!, material, colors, the extra parts I needed to buy...you will see some of them in future progress, the putty, sanding paper etc etc ) alone are already beyond 400 euros I think...Glue alone is already 100 I would guess....I should have counted more from the beginning....but only the "super glue" is at 3,50 a package and I used already 10 or more packs....LOL....the plastic(modellers) glue I already used 6 or so....about 5 euros each....hot glue sticks...other glues....etc.
I use Marabu colors (only the best) acrylic one. I already needed 3 rattlers (10€ each!) and will need much more only to get the first layer. You see materials alone on these are maybe not expensive but in that size the amount is crazy!! :lol:
I think If you would pay me only 1€ an hour and the material costs it is already waaaay to expensive.
I know that the interest is huge. If I have finished the "form" completely I will think about making some molds (would need help for that) before painting it.....promise! I will let you know if there is a way I maybe can make a few of them and how much the costs will be then.

Ditto what everyone else has already said here, but seriously, this is incredible work. One of the main reasons I still like to stay active on RS is because of the forum they have for custom projects & I'd love to see more of it going on here. This definitely ranks as the finest vehicle reproduction I've seen, hands down. Can't wait to see the next update!

Thank you guys...wow...it has been some time! Time is flying it seems! Well let us see what spare time I will have 2014....LOL....
I started with the bottom of the ship as well as with the "wings" and the landing gear! I also gathered a lot of usefull parts!

Time is running...eh???
I worked on the wings from time to time. Not yet finsihed, but here is some work in progress pictures. The last pictures shows the unfinished hanging together with the beginning mechanical solution to make them movable.

THE UNDERSURACE
The undersurface as I call it will be the last part of the hull. This stage of construction will give the ship its final shape and form. I decided to build it more like one of the models used in the movie although everyone will be more familiar with the CGI undersurface.
As I do not build other models I have no "fodder box". As you can see on the picture above a lot of stuff will be needed to build the undersurface. I in example searched quite a while for a material to build those grills. Now I have finally found somrthing that can be used perfectly.
After that the rough construction of the undersurface is built in one piece. It will be cut in three pieces as soon as its mounted to the top part.
I needed to disassemble the whole ship again. The three main parts needed refixing and I had to change the way some of the transition parts work and look. It is quite a lot of filling, sanding and smoothing.
