And it's nothing to do with Star Wars  I also collect sealed Nintendo games, I've just picked up a particularly valuable game so I've sent it in as it's in exceptionally good condition (hoping for an 85/90) and also because these games only came shrink wrapped when new, so there are a lot of fakes around and the price difference between new and opened ones is massive.

I'm not a member and went for the cheapest option, will it really take them 2 months to grade it? Also has anyone had to pay customs fees before? It says they're pretty good at dodging them, but not convinced.

Also I can't believe how bad/amateur their website and ordering system is. It's really shockingly bad. There is no excuse in this day and age not to have fully automated, tracked online submissions. Their system really isn't good enough. If UKG could nail that, they might even get more customers from abroad.

The same way you play with graded action figures and vehicles

On a serious note I actually collect them because I love the box art. I'll have to do a limelight of all my Star Wars games :)

Did you here about that huge Nintendo game sale on ebay in France a little while ago? Sold for a €Million!
I'll try and find a link.

I did Pete, that was pretty crazy! I wonder if the sale actually went through. I wouldn't fancy that trip to the post office!

Well i read the buyer was a guy who sells vintage games. I actually looked up his ebay account. It all looks pretty legit tho i'm not quite sure where he's coming up with a million quid to invest selling a few vintage games a week. :?

Here's the article- http://apps.facebook.com/metrouk/article/tech/games/904681-worlds-biggest-ebay-game-collection-sells-for-1-23-million

I seem to remember reading that it worked out at around $175 per game too, I'm sure there's a lot in there worth considerably more than that, but a lot of the games are only worth a few dollars too. I can't see the logic in a dealer buying it all.

Is it the stadium events game :p

I have sent a few things to AFA, theres no probs with customs as they insure the item through third parties so the custom form has a zero price on it and they state just sending items back, they use UPS Worldwide Expedited too so it generally bypasses customs. My vlix came direct.

How much does the shipping/handling usually cost you Lee? They didn't give me an estimate.

the insurance on mine plus the size of the box due to the COA cost me £37 and that included an extra £5 for sig due to the items price plus about £4 for materials and gave me full tracking.

but smaller less expensive items should be cheaper and you can always ask them to let you know the cheapest service rough price.

I agree it would be alot easier if once u filled in the online submission you could submit it rather than have to print out the paperwork and send which means the box weighs more and is bigger.
I always have to go to internet cafe as have no printer.

Thanks mate. It just seems crazy that they expect you to send them something worth potentially hundreds or even thousands of pounds with a piece of paper, and then just forget about it for 2 months, hoping that it might arrive back one day. No curtesy email to say it's arrived, when they've graded it, when they've shipped it etc. It's like going back to the 90s!

It takes them 3 days to process the order it then they notify you that the grading period has begun and give you a estimated time finish so even after its there the first week they will let u know the 2 month period has started and then again once its shipped back to you, you get mail from UPS............however I am forever pestering them asking if its done yet and whether they recieved it yet knowing full well they have just to keep it fresh in their mind lol

My last figure was 3 days behind estimation and each day i emailed them asking is it done yet and then Tom actually phoned me up telling me the delay.

is this some really expensive game ?

I once had a custom case made for a neo geo home cart from them..........Just wish they would update the site.

Brave man using AFA Edd

I've never sent anything to AFA before, but if it grades as well as I hope it does, it will be $25 + shipping very well spent based on the price this went for recently:
