years behind i know, but it was a steal at £50 from a mate at work and my blu ray player was playing up anyway. its 60gb and plays ps2 games :)

(i wont be going online with it)
can anyone recomend some games that are good to get please?
also how easy is it to hook up a 5.1 surround system with it? and was it worth while as im thinking of doing this also.

cheers!

I just got my brothers old one after he got a PS4 for christmas.

Im currenly playing arkham asylum which is amazing. After that ive got a pile to get through but looking forward to
Last of us
Red dead redemption
Arkham city
Street fighter 4

The 2 greatest games of all time are red dead redemption and burnout paradise!

PS the sound is easy to hook up as the ps3 has optical output, piece of piss :D

Yes! I don't go online either. Don't see the point.

GTA San Andreas (Simply one of the greatest games of all time. It's more of a PS2 game but still the best in the series. The 2 follow ups are fine but really don't offer anything new. This one was the game changer)
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (actually has a pretty decent story mode unlike most MW games. And lots of side games)
Lego Marvel Super Heroes
Crysis 2 (Probably my all-time favourite 1st person shooter)
Boarderlands 2
FarCry 3

GTA5 is possibly the best game of all time. Debatable

Last of Us - maybe the best of it's genre. I would say that's a certainty.

Older, but the God of War series are good old beat 'em up, puzzle type games.

Tiger Woods golf was a good laugh.

My favourite all time game on the PS3 has to have been Mirrors Edge. It's flawed but so completely out there and different to everything else. Well worth a play.

Like others have said GTA series is great. Hours of fun.

I enjoyed Tiger Woods golf aswell.

Far Cry games are excellent....

Always need a bit of FIFA aswell in case the lads call round! FIFA 15 is awesome.

Here's my surprise on Christmas morning...

That's a great PS3 system, i have it still aswell and i been playing on it for almost 8 years now.
The 60gig, with playback function was the first PS3 ever released and it has 4 usb slots and multiple other slots for various SD cards.

My new years gift was a PS4, so i moved the PS3 system upstairs, so i still can enjoy it now and then.

Like others have said, GTA V is one off the best games, i also always have been a fan of the Call of Duty series.

Another single player game (an older one) which i really enjoyed was Fallout 3.

I used to say that Pete...

How wrong I was.

Its not essential but do not dismiss it, it adds a whole new dimension to gaming. I prefer on-line co-op to versus generally, racing is great fun. I do not enjoy footy online as I think the game suffers and some games simply do not translate well online or even offer the option. If you are savvy with your options and invites you can also avoid all the twats out there that do their best to ruin the online experience.

If you have a good connection, a good group of friends and headsets it can be as much fun as StreetFighter and MarioKart used to be with a room full of people if not more.

Give it a go

You haven't REALLY played Call of Duty if you didn't play online...
I bought every Call of Duty they released for Playstation during many years, but since i got online with it on PS2, i haven't played the story mode on any off these anymore. I think i spent around 500 - 600 hours playing online on any call of duty since Modern Warfare 2 came out.

Have to agree with Dennis. I also spend hours on Every Call of Duty Modern Warfare 1!

Enjoy your PS3 8)
