Jabba playset clean up

After reading through some posts

Decided to have a bash at cleaning up the jabba box and figures, already cleaned and stripped the x wing still have to do the box on that

So stripped the box, then flattened it with an iron and cotton t towel
Recreated all of the creases, and squared back up

Not brilliant, but the ironing does work, I think yo can see the difference before and after

Like I say not fantastic but happier with it now

Take a look and see what you think would welcome any tips

Doesn't look too bad at all. If it's just for your collection you could reinforce the box inside perhaps?

Looks good. I use the spray starch method for weaker boxes. You can cut a rigid piece of cardboard from a shipping box and custom size it to fit inside for re enforcement.

Looks good. There is a guy on eBay doing Repro inserts. I have bought a few. I don't mind because they keep the toy in place and reinforce the box.

Yes seen those inserts, I'm not that ethical that I'd let that worry me.

I don't think I will be in a position where I'm selling on, ever as what I get is for me and for my lad, for keeps, it's not about investing, it's about fulfilment.

Really enjoy the work involved in cleaning up, getting things ship shape. ready for display.

I have used heavy books on my x-wing box, but maybe I should do the same as you do

Hi Lars
Opening the box out flat, then using an iron to flatten the interiors, and realigning the creases, then pva to seal back really does make a difference
Does square the box nicely,

It's worth a try, and not really a risk method

If I do the starch method on the x wing box ill post pics


Cleaned up the jabba playset with toothbrush and soapy water, that came up nicely as well but I have a piece missing on the bubble stem :roll:

What do you have between the iron and the box ?

Or do you use the iron on the box ?

A cotton cloth, tea towel is best

No steam setting, no water

Just iron each section flat, and the lips etc then hold the creases at right angles and iron into the crease

Works a treat :wink:
