It's getting way to expensive out there

So had my first go at making my own display case, not perfect, but I'm happy with it, fingers crossed I will improve with practice & save myself some funds to spend on the ever increasingly costly vintage, figured I'd share, maybe encourage others to try.

That looks excellent did you buy the perpex precut? Or what type of saw did you use for cutting the perpex

It's actually glass yoda, but could be easily done in acrylic, tensol is quite simple to work with to bond acrylic & I have been able to cut acrylic quite well with a rotary flat bed tile saw which are very cheap to buy, I made my old loose figure display cases out of acrylic years back.

Excuse the crappy old pic's but you get the idea, did not have tensol at the time so these were a bit bodged together with superglue which was not the easiest to work with.

Super work Frank, must be great to have DIY skills, you already know where I am on that score  you say fingers crossed, I say no fingers left if I start cutting glass :!:

That case looks brill, and the figure case looks superb, cracking work mate

Thanks guys, yes you have to watch your fingers with the fresh cut glass, but a quick rub with some sanpaper & it takes the sharp edge right off, still getting the hang of cutting it accurately, trial & error though, all recycled as with most stuff I do, or should I say up-cycled as the trendy twats like to call it these days, that case was a caravan window not long ago.

Yes Todd you dis a superb job bringing the speeder box back from the grave, the case makes the best of it to, really quite happy with how it displays now, going to have a bash at making more for my shipping cases next.

Would love to try my hand with acrylic again, but the cost of the raw sheet alone is quite a bit now :|
