Good morning guys ,

I don't highlight watch outs or beware , however I feel this needs to be put out there .

I have been collecting Star Wars for many years , well from the 1970's as a kid . Over the last few years I have got back into it and as collectors know got the bug again . Generally most buys have been smooth and no issues . However one thing that is taking the tarnish of the collecting is scammers and rubbish sellers .

Here is one story ,
I paid for 4 last 17 figures on the 19 August , romba , a wing pilot , warock and barada. I paid £115 to include postage . The seller on here is william30 . As I am generally very trusting I sent him a gift for that amount and waited . After a couple of weeks still no figures , send e mails , no replies. Then got one he was on holiday, ok however as a seller surely send the buyer a note to say the figures are on the way , or maybe lost in the post  Waited another week still no figures , asked for parcel number , got a payment number still no joy waited over 5 weeks now still no figures . After lots of emails , some how seller still thinks if my fault the post office has lost his figures , he will not refund my money

So guys from an old collector , don't buy from this guy , shocking or no communication, no comeback or tracking on items , he got my money and no figures . Its people like this make the SW collecting a mine field .
If is wasn't for sellers on here like Iain , Neil etc I would never buy again !

You have been warned

Even if the parcel was sent without tracking then the seller should at least have a 'proof of postage' - basically a till receipt from the Post Office. He can refund you and then use that proof of postage along with a claim form and get his money back for an item lost in the post.

It's not rocket science: http://www.postoffice.co.uk/mail/lost-and-damaged

ps. "devilliany" is not a word but it ought to be!

William30, he only joined the forum on July 25th this year - sadly I think you were too trusting to send such a new member money by gift because if it does go wrong you're up s**t creek. Longer term members who have built up reputations usually can be trusted with gift but I think in this instance you should have insisted on paying with regular paypal. Sorry to hear it.

He Guys,

Normally only read overhere , sometimes buy from you guys.

I noticed some weeks ago that William30 has been using same photo's as a Dutch guy that i know as local Dutch collector. The last normally puts stuff on Marktplaats ( translated marktplace). This guy has a store and facebook page called Toys from the past and The starwars Vintage Collection archive.
i picked up a meccano jawa last week from this guy and confronted him with the identical photo's etc.
He declined that he was the same guy however it is worrying that "both" are from Holland.

let me know how i can help (he currently has some items on the dutch Marketplace)

That's what I thought ,however the guy is from Holland , not sure if it's different there !

I do not know about Holland, but in denmark insurance is different than the uk on packets and letters.

But he should have told you about it before you paid and if he did not give you the option to pay for insured mail then I think it is his problem and not yours.

Thanks guys ,

Other than giving me his address,or if you live near him , if you see any of his items stay well clear , complete asshole

Admin has already been contacted

Thanks

Yes we've known about this for a while, sadly as payment was made via gift and he's refusing to even read PMs we send him, there's very little that either we or Steve can do about it. We will of course ban him if he doesn't re-appear to defend himself.

As per the rules in the sales section the only advice I can offer people is don't pay via gift unless it's somebody you know well, or one of our approved traders like Iain.

Thanks for posting the watch out, as Edd said, please please make sure you safeguard against this kind of thing in the future by not sending gift payments to people who have been registered on here for five minutes.

PS: I've renamed your thread to the following: "Watch out for SWF member "william30" taken payment, no items" as the previous title sounded like SWF is overrun by scammers and thieves which obviously isn't the case, we just get the odd tosser every 6 months or so!

William30 sells items on commission, he doesn't actually own the items, just sells on behalf of others.

I was buying some droids items from him but the price I was after was too low for him to make any money on it, so he put me in touch with the actual owner and the transaction went fine.

He didn't seem like a scammer to me, as he had plenty of opportunity to screw me.

As I recall, on the FS threads here he made out he was the owner or, at least, never declared otherwise.

I noticed on FB a few days back he was still trying to flog the 12" Boba Fett but this time without the cardboard insert having been advised here it was no good.

Sorry to hear about your problems, Steve. Never nice to get done and particularly nasty when there has been trust involved. Personally, I didn't like him.....but that's only because he wouldn't shift from the insane £500 he was asking for his mail-away stand and first 12 figures; being stubborn as a mule and a little arrogant about the pricing

Also I don't think there's any evidence that this seller is actually a scammer - he likely did send the items and they got lost in the post. Stupid to send them uninsured, unhelpful, naive etc, sure. But I'd prefer people didn't throw around terms like scammer unless it's deserved, eg selling items they don't own or have no intention of posting.

Sorry yeah I jumped the gun, will take out the s word in the above post

Sorry to disagree here but not proving he posted the items and not responding to requests for information makes him 100% scammer until/unless he defends himself or proves evidence to the contrary.

As my two pence worth, I asked him about a few figures from the same lot and was told they had already been sold, if he was a true scammer then he would have just taken my money regardless! However that is by no means a defence and he sounds like a massive douche for not replying or trying to resolve the situation.

Thanks Edd , Joe

For jumping in and renaming the thread , of course a majority of the sellers on here are great . However there is always 1 rotten apple in the barrel .

Definitely guys really review gift payment, there is no comeback

Thanks

Hearing things like this really put's a downer on my day. Your a great guy and truly deserves nothing but good things. I really hope you can somehow resolve this issue - A lot of us have been in the same situation, and I know it can leave you feeling deflated. Try and keep your chin up matey.

Sorry to see you or anyone lose money Dude. It's a killer... As it's been pointed out tho it's best under no circumstances to pay via gift payment. It's simply not worth it. It may potentially save you a few quid in the beginning if you pay gift but you could end up saving you a fortune in the long run if the PP fees are paid. Hope it works out for you tho dude.
