Is this really where things have got to?

Rich sorry to break it to you but we are going to introduce the non transactional rule here as of February.

But that'll be 5 rules? Can the mods cope?

We will also be looking for a couple of extra moderators in February too..to help with the increased workload.

And another- item for sale. I've listed it in 27 groups. Each with comments and pms (all transactional of course). I'll respond to the ones I feel like. In other words the ones who offer the most.

Just imagine what he's like when your microphone has feedback on the pod....

Goes out side and knocks a horse out with one punch.

That is one that annoys me as well - why list one item over 6 or 7 groups - I wake up some mornings to about 20-30 notifications from about 2-3 people who have posted up a single MOC

Oh and as for that slide, apparently the guy paid the $75 for a CIB COA simply because he likes them, which if that is the case I can't really argue with him as it's his personal choice (even if I think it's a huge waste of money).

My argument was that he could buy another slide for $75 or less (meaning he would have another item rather than a piece of signed paper in his collection for the same amount of money) and his reply was:

If you can find me a slide for $75 please let me know -

So, I then told him about a large slide sale a month or so ago of 200 (yes 200!) different slides which were priced between $10 and $50 each..

His reply?

I paid $300 for this because it was the first one I saw and I was told it was a good price..

I've often said that I believe that it's the uninformed/impatient collectors who are paying through the nose for stuff and then relying on AFA grades or COA's to make their purchases feel justified and the above conversation seems to prove that.

The last reply on that topic was this gem (bearing in mind that NOBODY said the slide was crap..in fact the contrary) from another guy:

I think it kicks ass. Much rarer than figures, playsets, etc and I think this is where the investment is if you are into this for that.

Go look for a Greedo slide. Now go look for a Greedo production piece, slide, etc.

Yup. Now you will agree with me that the slide was a hell of a deal and the extra cash spent to validate it even further was well worth it.

Good find!

Validate it further? Wait a minute, what? Even the guy who bought it said he didn't need it validated because he sent it to Kim who had already OK'd it..how far can you validate an already validated item that nobody has ever tried to forge..EVER?

When you are up against that kind of argument you just have to walk away.

Considering what's been said, I'm glad im not using these groups.
If none of you have got anything from them just walk away, or click "leave group". There's simply more to life.

Guy with the slide took his toys and went home. He deleted his entire thread after 175+ replies and wiped out a pretty solid discussion about the item itself, the COA (and general COA talk) and some chat about Kenner slides from Kim and Mattias.

Arghhhhhhh

Someone buzz me if "thetoycloset" (real name deleted by request) ever signs up to SWF, he's going to be permanently banned! ;)

I had a bust up with in the summer over grading. He's one of the "AFA85 or die" brigade.

I asked him why he could'nt grade his own figures in a thread where he was showing off his newly graded items. Prick came back with "some people don't like washing their own car"

Graded stuff will rise and fall exactly like stock papers or flats in newly gentrified areas. It will be a bitter end for those new so called investors or collectors. If you have no deeper feeling, no love for the hobby, you'll end up selling the stuff later . maybe right now is a good time to sell, but why if you're not forced to?

I experienced that myself in a pretty comparable situation. I bought several figures years ago at a certain price and when I upgraded the figures I sold the lower ones to fund some more purchases and the figs ended up for less.

If you buy, the high price is okay for you but it won't be naturally okay for others, so if you're forced to sell prices fall.

Joe's making BJs more scarce?

I sincerely hope not

I had a spare few minutes; I tried to have a look but its a closed group, lucky me :)

Facebook is beginning to piss me off.

Overpriced figures being sold by people who know nothing about Star Wars. It's pure greed.

There are some good guys on there too though.

But seriously $5000 by Paypal gift????

There is an interesting discussion going off over on FB as to this Luke's pricing. Is there a limit to how much you can PayPal gift? $5000 would surely raise a lot of red flags?
