Is it wrong to really dislike other collectors ?

The vintage Star Wars community is the best, everyone looks out for each other. But there's always one or two bad apples and we just have to pick em off and toss em in the garbage where they belong.

I wish this were true, but my years collecting tell me that it's not always that supportive. it's not just the one or two twats that ruin it with fakes or outright abuse, there's a lot of behind the scenes back stabbing and promises which are not followed through, cliques and greed.

That said, I have had a lot of support from members of the community, especially on this site, so the good is definitely there...it's not completely turned to the darkside.

You sometime have to take the rough with the smooth

+1

It's definitely a hobby full of people that would make your stomach turn, especially when it involves money/getting what they want but on the whole the good makes up for the bad. Some people will always be twats, in life and in collecting.

This Guy added me as a Friend on RS does that make me a Twat 2?

Ed, you are a twat - but we love you
Thanks Iain
You should know by now that RS is full of Burks!

I tell you what collectors I hate. And thats the hypocrits who act like they are in it for the hobby and look out for their mates and slag of afa people putting prices up and then proceed to try to sell something more than the graded price of it. And also when I heard about a coin collection being found by a novice. I know for a fact the people who got in contact first lowballed big tme only to auction them off a week later.....y auction them off so quickly if not to make huge profit. .....and its all about community lol **** off........ not members here though

Lee - I take it you mean someone on RS who is also affiliated to this site linking posts from here to there? i still don't know who is doing that? Not sure i want to

Tend to think everyone on here is cool. Would hate to find out one of the regular contributors was doing that.

IMO

You have a right to like or dislike whoever you want, and don't have to justify your feelings.

In this case the guy is a complete muppet

Wow Pete...impressed with the synopsis, how much do you charge an hour, really good overview of the human attitude.

I have always been pretty black and white and take people for what they are, but don't have a problem with disliking someone for good reason, I do tend to tell them to their face though, thankfully doesn't happen to often ( my mrs hates that about me  )

It a bit of a sad life being obnoxious, opinionated, bigoted and rude, I'd rather be me than them

So as said....No it's not wrong

Mmmm.....

Think everyone deserves a second chance.

But if nothing changes, there isn't much you can do other than 'block' their posts.

A few years back there was a thread here slagging of RS and I joined in slagging of certain members who were not members here {thinking they will never know}

Then someone here posted the link over there saying this is what this site thinks of you and thus the person i was slagging off, got to see it lol.

They wasnt doing it maliciously though but i had rather what is posted here stays here.

Or just dont backbite so you cant get caught hehe

That still goes on sadly. Not that i give a **** who knows i'm slagging them off (it's always with good reason) but it's a little sad isn't it?

Essentially anything you post is open for anyone to read. Yes it's annoying if other people draw attention to things at times, but ultimately if you post it publically, anyone could read it.

Personally, I think if you wouldn't want people to read it, don't post it. If you don't care, then it's not an issue.

The world is full of nasty dickheads you can either choose to ignore them or react... personally i react ...let the ****er make comments like that on this forum and like todd saidhe'll get ripped to shreds

  Oh well, I suppose I don't dislike him as much now

I think Pete hit the nail on the head with this guy (and a few others that we come across) - they are looking to start a fight, sometime without realising it, by making comments that go against the grain

I would 100% agree with his charity suggestion, and although it seems pointless sending toys all the way over to the States from the UK, would love to support a similar charity here in the UK - does anyone know of one ?

If no I will get looking for one

If you read his post in one of the where are the veterans threads its like he doesn't realise he's a dick until he posts and realises later. Still there is a. Edit button...

Iain- Might be worth contacting the 501st and see if there's an option with the work they do for the Make a Wish Foundation.

Thing is, take for example what i and others got banned from RS for - having a difference of opinion and one that's well justified. Spoke out on repros, agreed with a few others. Next thing you know i'm banned forever for 'trolling and general disdain towards the forum'. Admittedly I wasn't on there for very long and never thought much of it, but the attitude baffled me. Anyway, they don't appear to like discussion or debate on RS and being a new member it was no skin off their nose to ban me. Fair enough really. Easiest option. A little harsh though :?

God bless SWFUK :)
