Seems to be getting even quieter on here these days?

I still log in most days, still look through old threads and limelight's

What do we need to do to kickstart more activity? Or is this just a sign of the times?

It is a little bit quiet recently, I like you login most days, I will be a bit quieter over the next few weeks due to moving house and the gigantic packing quest that's happening!! Can't believe how much **** we accumulated

We're moving to a village near Bamburgh Northumberland called Belford, downsizing to a cottage, so had to sell off and donate a load of stuff. Can't wait to get my vintage figures and ships out on display and have a different pace of life

I'm new and I log in most days to clock the updates. I've also visited some of the older threads to fill in the gaps after my collecting reduced in the early 2000s.

I like seeing the pictures, for example, the Echo Base purchases showcased in the new acquisition thread today. Although, I'm jealous as parental transport duties on weekends doesn't allow freedom to roam.

It's also inspiring me to want to collect a bit more. My ambition has expanded from loose complete to MOCs. And I absolutely want a Sandcrawler after the recent toy of the week review!

I only know a couple of collectors in 'real life'. Both of whom were also debulking their collections - in other words I met them through their sales and subsequently kept in touch. Therefore, I have never really showcased my stuff to other collectors (or to anyone really) until I posted my Tri Logos and ROTJs here. I hope to post the rest when I get a chance (incl my other MOCs, vehicles and Droids/Ewoks spin off stuff).

I have had more conversation about Star Wars collecting here in the past few weeks than probably ever before. It's always been an under the radar hobby for me, for reasons that have varied over the years.

This is obviously one perspective only. Hope this helps.

Thanks, and yes I have read the TT stuff. Came across it a few years ago, but, read the thread after joining the forum. All that stuff passed me by in real time as collecting had reduced to opportunistic only by then. As others have noted, active collecting does take some time and bandwidth…

Well I'm as guilty as the next man for not posting half as much as I should, I stayed away from FB for years & only really posted on the forums, but sort of got sucked in when a specific focus group popped up on there for what I collect, I have been making a concerted effort to post more of late & have been trying to encourage others to (with very limited success may I add).

I've never really walked away from the forum, but had been mostly just coming on to add to the baggies guides rather than actively posting, this will always be my SW collecting home, but it is so sad to see it so quiet, so many good years on here though, we really need the banter back.

Even making the effort to post is not as easy as it once was as there's not always a great deal to contribute & not many new posts to get involved with, I guess I stepped away due to my focus more than anything as there were never many members on here who got into baggies & being able to chat with others who share my focus seemed to be the logical thing, but I would love to see the forum gain some traction again & become more active, social media in all it's various forms seems to have grabbed the interest of 95% of collectors, I only use the one & that's more than enough for me, it's a useless format for anything permanent on there, everythings up & gone within a week,

I'm not really sure if we'll ever manage to revive the forum as all the forums are very slow now & not just the SW ones, seems most interest forums have seen the same slowing down, I noticed the car forum I use now & then has slowed to an almost stop & that used to be fairly active, I've asked for a little assistance on a couple of issues & not had a reply in 3 days, that used to be unheard of on there, checked the members stats & I was the only actual member on all 3 times I checked, lots of guest users but no actual members.

I will continue to try & be more active, sadly I can't contribute on the football front as I just never really did get a lot of sports especially football & golf.

I applaude the members who have remained active on here & are fighting the good fight of keeping the place afloat & hope the days comes where folks see the light & remember forums are a much better platform for comunity spirit & information.

I'm like other here all ears if there's anything others think we can do to get the ball rolling again.

As I've said I have been coming on the whole time to keep the guides expanding, I hope they help bring some traffic to the site, but not much point having the traffic if none of them stop to smell the roses & get involved in the other areas of the forum & actively posting, it would be a cold day in hell if we loose the forum.

The slower pace of life makes a huge difference, we made the break about 15 years ago, no looking back, the downsides are greatly outweighed by the more gentle pace of life.

I'm as guilty as anyone - I'm online here every day during the work day, refreshing a few times a day. This is now my only vintage Star Wars outlet / connection with other collectors since deleting Facebook in December, so I really should make the effort to interact.

There's no comparrison, I did 40 years of the city, I've earned the peaceful life, i now hate having to go back to the city/any city in all honesty, you can smell them from miles away as your approching, I've swapped the concrete jungle for lush landscapes & beaches, lucky really as there's not much else here lol, I can look out of my bedroom window over this beach about 3 miles away & a view over abersoch in the other direction, so more beach/islands & a sea view, always wanted to be near the sea, so thankful we moved, just should have done it 20 years earlier, it'd be nice if the weather in that photo were more frequent mind, but it's a glorious beach even on the harshest of weather days.

I hope you enjoy the change of life / pace of it.
