Starting to get properly fed up with eBay recently, have recently purchased a fair few mint loose figures but to discover that majority of weapons that come with them are reproduction. The sellers claim they know nothing of this.

Today I have received five gorgeous Hoth loose figures in incredible condition but the figures reek of stale smoke, were not just talking about a slight smell I mean they absolutely stench of it.

Is everything off eBay a waste of time these days?

Is there anywhere else online to buy vintage Star Wars clobber at reasonable prices other than eBay, obviously I know you can on here but was wondering if there was any other decent sites I haven't come across.

Ebay is good for a quick fix but is usually followed by a downer, for consistent purchases use the sales section here or start a 'wanted' thread

The last item I bought off ebay was a very stiff Death Star Droid. Bought nothing else in about a year as I've picked up everything I needed here. There will become a time though when I'll have to try the evilbay as some becomes more difficult to acquire.

Ever since they removed the Vintage MOC Category its been slowing getting worse and worse.

I only ever search locally, and for Yoda, R5 and DSD and PD Items. Gone are the days when you could search arcoss the board for everything and anything :( :(

Never really had a problem with Ebay (Touch wood, cross fingers toes for future purchases) however the last lot of MOCs I have purchased have all been off this forum, good price and you know what you are getting.

Like anything else check peeps feedback here, but there are a good few superb sellers on here listing loose figures on a regular basis. Personally stick with the forums, honest listing and most importantly NO FECKING REPRO weapons!

So as Todd said, Forum all the way, WTB section is also good.

Cheers

Cheers for the replays, I have purchased a few bits on the forum over the last couple of days, looking forward to receiving the goods.

I have had a lot of problems with repro weapons and damaged items from ebay sellers. In the last 2 years I would say every time I get 5 packets there is something wrong with the items inside one of them

I mainly collect MOC's and have to say Ebay sellers I've dealt with on the whole have been fantastic, items described exactly and arrived well packed etc.

Maybe it's a problem just with loose figures???

Ever since they changed it all, i have lost interest in Ebay.

I'll check out a few sellers, but thats it.

I bought last year some moc from the 90s the seller had just packed some brown paper around them and mailed it to me. The moc was mint on the pictures and bend when I got them. Lucky it was not vintage

I have gotten a lot of loose figs off eBay and never had a problem. But I only deal with sellers I know but their a bit expensive. But at least I know what I'm getting.

Bought stuff off Ebay but it turns out the sellers were off here anyway :p

You're right though, loads of repro **** (not from guys on here). I used to be fairly indifferent about it but that scene just pisses me off now. Gets on your tits when everything you search for has 'repro' in the small print

As you say Lars lucky it wasn't vintage - still a bummer though

I must have just been quite lucky, although some of the sellers on ebay have been guys on here, which is a bonus

It's not *that* bad. Sure there are more than enough cunts on there ripping people off left, right and centre, but there are still plenty of good guys there and you can still pick up a bargain or two. e.g. I got a complete Jabba playset (minus pipe), complete Rebo band (minus one mic and keyboard) and a Luke stormie on eBay for £26 including postage the other day.

Takes some patience and trawling but it's still worth it!

OP: did you get your Hoth stormies off TieFighterBoy?!

Ebay and gumtree are the only places your likely to pick up a bargain. Theres alot of scammers out there but with paypal and ebays buyer protection you'll be ok, though its balls to the wall time when you get scammed big and your holding your breath for paypal to get back to you.
For selling its total **** though. If a buyer complains over anything just grab your ankles and think of a happy place
