****ing repros

Last year a guy asked med the same question, he wanted repro weapons for his son, so he could play with them.

A repro free site could be cool, but if we want to have such a site. We also need to help people to spot them, maybe with our own guide with some really good pictures and information.

"hello. i have recieved warok today thank you. but the weapon supplied is a reproduction not an original, the original should be a brown bow the one that came with figure is grey and is made of a brittle plastic not flexible as it should be. for me too buy a original replacement bow for this figure via ebay is within the region of £10-15. would you consider a partial refund within this region to my payal. as you can see i have 100% feedback so you know im a honest buyer! regards

Hey Chris, i have just had the exact same problem with this seller, bought a cheap resealed luke jedi (only £4) but arrived with black blaster so advised him in a polite email and he has offered me a full refund or a grey blaster. Gonna take the refund as no doubt the blaster will be repro and then will neg him after, if we both hit him he shoukdnt get away with it if people check the feedback.

Im confident the blue saber is legit and it also came with a snap cape so i should come out of it ok :)

Let us know your outcome........

As an alternative to those that do not want to destroy/burn repros. I understand the 'want' for them for customs or for your kids to play with ( I can't argue against this ) how about putting a hole in them ie. heat up a pin/needle/paperclip & push it through. That way they are permanently marked.

This is a great idea for people that want to keep them for other reasons. But c'mon real collectors don't want this crap in their collection! I least I don't. Anyway this is a tuff situation indeed, and being repro free is gonna be tuff. I've been doing the float test every time I buy a fig but now I guess that's out the window lol I have to painstakingly check each one and hope I'm right being original or fake.

Anybody here do the acoustic test???

Dude, I live by the acoustic test...

Years ago I thought it would be difficult to tell the difference from the sound but its easy and it really helps. I have even taught it to J'r J'r

I wouldn't bother listening to an online example, just try it yourself with a known repro and known original, the difference is clear to the ear.

I'm all for a repro free site here and I certainly would never knowingly sell a repro item on here as I know it's serious vintage collectors on here. That said though I have bought a bag of repro's in the past to put with the box of star wars figures I have for him when he's older. I figured that he will probably lose most of them by the end of the first week he has them and then may well lose interest after a short time after. There's bound to be something else that takes his fancy (well it is his childhood and who am I to force mine onto him). I intend to sell off the originals at some point to collectors who need them to complete their collections and feel that's a better use for them than getting lost between the gaps in the floorboards.

I understand the whole thing about these repro ones finding their way into collectors hands years from now but the ones I have are easy to spot as long as you've put a little research time in. Also I'll be sure to show him what original weapons look like once he's old enough to understand and if he does get the Star Wars bug from me he'll know that a nice vintage collection is coming his way when he's older.

I think too many years have passed with these things being sold to really make much of a difference but being a 100% repro free site when selling through here is an idea that I'm all in for.
