****ing repros

Hey Jeff, it's great that you posted here and you are right I would never have named you - I was in a foul mood this morning having taken delivery of Rebel Commando with the broken bubble and then to receive two packages from forum member with repro weapons tipped me a bit

There is a lesson for us all here (me included) and that is to check the items that we post out to one another - there are a lot of new collectors on the board at the moment and one of the things that I think makes it stand out is the trust that our sale items are genuine (rather than the general crap that you get on Ebay)

Jeff, I have been doing this a long time and a few have got by me as well, this isn't totally your fault so don't beat yourself up about it - if there were no reproduction weapons out there we would not have to worry.

Sure you can check each and every accessory you get in just in case but that is time consuming and not always an option..we also sometimes buy things from people in good faith believing the back story (mine from childhood etc)

Honest mistakes are one thing, ripping people off is another - we all know you are a good guy and will resolve the issue with Iain so don't worry mate.

FWIW, however much I enjoyed owning a loose set of figures, reproduction weapons and accessories were one of a few reasons why I decided to stop buying loose and stick with carded figures. Too much of a gamble and too many of them out there.

Here's one of the many reasons this forum is a marvellous place, absolute honesty and implicit trust amoung fellow enthusiasts and, on top, the endevour to fix what genuine pitfalls do occur.

Everything vintage item I buy, I examine and cross-reference with the aforementioned sites to the best of my ability. Regardless of where the goods came from, I always feel it's for my own peace of mind to double-check it's kosher. Only been stuck with a repro nasty once (before joining here), so now I do my homework!

Yes Jeff, It can happen to all of us, I still sometimes find repro in my own collection, some of them are pretty good :(

I very rarely use the float test for anything these days as I think there will be floaters out there for every accessory worth a pound or two, within a couple of years anyways. TIG has done a lot of updates on the Gunnery lately and IMO must be close now to having all the original variants on there IMO. If we find a repo and its not on there then it's either a new repo or a new variant, either way they should be on the gunnery and If we all did that then these repos could be stamped out as detailed pictures and descriptions of every variant thats out there would make it hard for the repo makers who will have to put all there efforts in to one or two variants of each accessory, once they get spotted by the community then the repo makers will have to start all over.

I can see many plans of action here...

1. We all take an oath not to knowingly buy or sell repro on this site?
2. FF3 to have a repro amenesty bucket whose contents will be destroyed at the end of the day?
3. We lift the Gunnery checklist thread and sticky it on this forum?

3 Great points Fuzzybuzzy. It would be helpful to have the Gunnery Link here. Maybe we can make our own reference and or who ever has repros send them in to the moderator of this site. Maybe even get a sticky thread with pics of repros that we have found in our collection.

I am well up for the Repro Destruction at FF3...

At last someting at an FF I can contribute to

I also have a Madine staff and ERG staff that need verification.

Mate, you have a open/shut case here - weapon is repro and not as stated. To be honest #i would ask for a partial refund of £10.00 or make him take it back

Get him Poncho...

You have got to neg him too, just one neg mentioning a repro will let a lot of buyers know what to expect. I have avoided sellers in the past for just one mention of a repro in their feedback, you are doing other collectors a favour.

Just make sure you get some money back first

not that ive calmed down ive just him this pm through ebay i await his response i think im being nice enough

"hello. i have recieved warok today thank you. but the weapon supplied is a reproduction not an original, the original should be a brown bow the one that came with figure is grey and is made of a brittle plastic not flexible as it should be. for me too buy a original replacement bow for this figure via ebay is within the region of £10-15. would you consider a partial refund within this region to my payal. as you can see i have 100% feedback so you know im a honest buyer! regards

As an alternative to those that do not want to destroy/burn repros. I understand the 'want' for them for customs or for your kids to play with ( I can't argue against this ) how about putting a hole in them ie. heat up a pin/needle/paperclip & push it through. That way they are permanently marked.

That's not a bad idea....would make them easily spotted etc... ?

Dont agree. Kids dont care if it's a matching weapon or not. My daughter dosent even care that her 'Captain Hook' doll is actually a Barbie with a paper clip stuck on her hand.

Burn them. And let the kids play with modern snizz.

^^ I hear you, but not everyone agrees. So I was just making a suggestion for those that won't burn them.
I must say I'm impressed that it does seem like everyone does agree that repros should not be sold/traded on this site.
