Ikea Cabinets Display Solution - project underway

Hi guys,

I HAVE UPDATED THIS AT THE END OF THE THREAD.

I was just wondering how many people would be interested in a display solution for these cabinets?

Also, could someone take the time to measure the internal shelf for me please.

If you display in a similar cabinet the internalshelf dimensions would be helpful too.

are you referring to the Detolf glass cabinet?? each shelf is approximately 14.5" wide, 15" tall and 13" deep

I also use this Expedit for modern displays too which is probably around 12" x 12" x 12" (going on the fact it holds 12" vinyl very snug but i'm sure a google can give you the accurate dimensions!)

Hi Bram,

I have DELTOLF, BILLY and one of the old BERTBY cases. It's a great shame that they stopped producing the BERTBY because they were/are perfect for a complete set of loose. BILLY work great for MOCs and Proofs, as I'm sure you remember our set up at the Farest From shows, as well as loose.

Got 2 Deltolf's from IKEA

Excellent value for money at £40 nothing else comes close. They are dead easy to assemble and show off a collection really well.

WARNING - prepacked they are bloody heavy (it's the glass that is weighty)

I have a box from ikea with a deltof cabinet ready for putting up when we move house. Just for loose,mocs will be a different kettle of fish

I was wondering if people would be interested in a different type of display solution to just standard ways.

I was thinking of bespoke displays to show off your figures, such as tattoine, endir, hoth, etc...

They could be made for just a normal book shelf or Ikea cabinet.

Any thoughts would be great!

I have used the "Billy" with "Morebo" doors.

Okay I made some changes to that and build in an own lightening.

Messurements btw can be checked on the Ikea site (as far as I know).

I've used both the Detolf and the Billys. The detolfs are nice and very affordable, but I do prefer the Billy where it offers adjustable shelves and it is much wider. With my Detolfs I left the sides off of two to combine them, so I could get the width closer to what I wanted, but it does leave a gap for dust to get in. Both are definitely great options, it just depends on what you want the display to look like and your needs. Here's how my old Detolf setup was and then the Billy. I opted for the white version because I thought it helped make the black of the SW packaging stand out more, but they come in a few different colors.

The shelf itself is around 40€. The doors (I would say these are Morebo doors) are expensive....if I rember correct it is 50€ for one door....so about 140-50 for one Billy with glas doors!

edit: I just saw Shawn has glas also in his shelf :lol: .....hmm...so up a few more bucks I guess!

When I did mine, I bought the cases first and then a few months later worked on buying all the add ons, but for a display case like that they're fairly affordable. My plan is at some point this summer to also get some of the half sized cases to add some more display space.

There are some awesome displays there 8)
Wolf...those Billy s look amazing with that lighting....I would take Jedi as a religion if I had this set up and that display area would be my Church

Going for a Deltof for my son so he can display his stuff, sadly not only vintage...but modern and MOTU, etc

All these displays are mind blowing guys....setting a benchmark for collecting
