the kellerman book is basicly the bible for collectors.

What, you mean it's full of made up stories and contradictory rubbish? Ohh and stuff encouraging genocide, mass murder and slavery!?

Might have to get a copy!

Kellerman is only really good for carded combos - if you are a lose collector then Sansweet's Action Figure Archive does vintage and POTF2 well. The new Bollermo loose figure book is probably better for just vintage and I think the second Sansweet book has too much modern - I forgot I owned it until I just looked on the shelves.

My favourite is a Japanese book 'The Action figure Database Vol. 1' - loads of great pictures of of pretty much every playset, figure and basic card, 12" fig, ship, ewoks and prototypes (phantom figures) also feature. There is very little text but I cant understand a word anyway

It is the most complete book out there for loose items and for folk not fussed about variants and card back combinations.

Maybe a bit controversial but unless you are a focus collector or total completist Kellerman is far too detailed for most people and only covers Kenner in detail, but as it has bible like status it goes for absolutely crazy money. I probably used it as a guide more than the other books when I put together my Han Hoth run, but the Japanese book has to be the best for great photos and seeing the whole toy line,

otherwise the Sansweet books are good for close up photos of loose figs. The Bellarmo book has a lot of text and goes into variants.

You've then got your prototype and foreign books too 8)

We still need a Kellerman for Palitoy - Jason's website in paper form

I also highly recommend the Japanese Action figure database vol. 1, fantastic book. Sansweets Action figure archive (1999) would be my second choice, but try and get the Japanese book if you can. Don't let the text put you off, as a visual guide it's unbeatable.

I recently grabbed a copy of the Kellerman book and I have to say, despite it costing a great MOC in price, it is more than worth it. The detail and cardback data is second to none. Every page is extremely valuable, no fillers in there at all.

If its 'The Ultimate Guide To Vintage Star Wars Action Figures 1977-1985 by Mark Bellmo' book, I got it for Christmas off the Mother in Law and was a bit underwhelmed by it.
I have both the kellerman and 1999 sansweet books as well and used the sansweet one for most of my reference back when I got back into collecting.

I have one of these spare which have both vintage and modern figure guides, if your interested. In better condition than the one in the picture.

£10+£3 post.

I havent seen the Mark Bellemo book for vintage stars wars figures, but if its equal to his GI Joe book i won't buy it. Just lots of pictures with loose figures, vehicles and playsets and incorrect price estimations.
I mean its a good visual checklist for everything, but that's it, nothing more then that.

That sums it up nicely - it is a good chrcklist but if you are not into variants then the Japanese book is best

The big criticism of Bellemo is tha he includes purple smock Ugnaught

No idea where he's got the prices from, some of them appear way off in my opinion and never understand why include them, book will be out of date in six months if they were correct to start with

I would say the Kelleman book is THE book if you are a completist or a Kenner Collector. Personally and this is just my opinion its a must regardless of what area of SW you collect.
