How's the "credit crunch" affecting your collecting?

I haven't really been buying much recently so can't say I've noticed, but has the latest media frenzy changed your day-to-day collecting at all? Does it mean more bargains, or just less for sale?

i work for an agency and ive had a few days less every week so for me ive had to cut back on buying and sell stuff instead.

hopefully things will get back to norm so i can buy some more stuff! :roll:

Bit like yourself Edd, I haven't been buying much recently so it hasn't affected me.

I haven't noticed much of a difference in the number of items on Ebay, but I have seen a few go for a lot less than I wold have thought.

not had no calls for last 2 weeks ,hopefully i can get on a agency doing some refurbs as there is a big project where all rented houses need to be brought up to a living standard by 2010 .

I've stopped making impulse buys, but I've noticed a general drop in prices which is good. So I'm still spending

Its a bit of a catch 22, folk are looking to raise cash but the stuff isnt reaching the heights it would have 12 months ago.
That said, prime gear still gets the attention is always has.

It's not really affecting me as the few remaining loose figures I need are the bloody expensive ones (Yak Face, Blue Snag etc) Which I find hard to justify spending that sort of money on anyway and I'm in no rush to get them, though if my car fares well in its MOT at the end of the month I may treat myself.

Seeing things from both sides, I have not bought much of late, but have been offered several nice items.

However from a selling side of things, I have seen demand go up since last year. Following CE there was a flatline of demand for vintage (except for Palitoy, which if anything has gone ballistic), but since Feb, things have really picked up in terms of interest in vintage and people looking for specific things.

I have not been able to buy much at all for my collection lately and it is killing me
I think i am getting collectors cold turkey as i get really depressed when i dont buy any new additions for a long time.

Credit crunch has hit me big time i work at Orange as a coaching consultant and we have just been made redundant

So ill probably have to cut back my spending on the hobby

However i will get a £10,000 redundancy package so it might be a chance to grab myself a real grail while i have the chance :twisted:

I've bought a few modern items and some Kubricks just to stop me getting bored but nothing major!! :lol:

The credit crunch hasn't had much effect on me so far and I've just put most of my savings into high interest ISA and savings accounts whilst the banks are offering them.

Sorry to hear that! Hope the search for a new job goes well!
Take care of that money at least till you have another job! Then at least you can spend it on star wars safe in the knowledge you don't have to find money to pay the bills/eat lol.

Im looking to start my own Performance Management / Consultant company i have everything i need in terms of qualifications, materials, potential clients and other factors.

But there are 2 things i really need some help with

1, Desigining a professional looking company logo

2, Desigining a website - then ultimately finding a good hosting package

These to have got me a bit stumped as i have never tried to do them before so any help that you guys could offer no matter how small would be amazing!

Sorry if this comes across as cheeky or asking a lot but i felt i could ask on this forum as oppose to RS.
