Hi All

When i get my spare room decorated in a few months it will become my collection room. (Cheers Babe)

Now i fancy getting some posters to go on the walls but obviously a lot of the original SW Quads and One Sheets go for mega money.

The only movie issue poster i currently own is the one below is has some wear and even though it was advertised as an original one sheet im pretty sure its a fake/copy which im not bothered about cos i won it for £2 as it was in the wrong section - either way its an image that i love and should look good on the wall

I wanted to get peoples feelings about one sheet and quad reproductions?

I profess to knowing **** all about this side of the hobby apart from understanding genuine originals can go for mega money (£2000 is mega money to me anyway).

I saw Grants Star wars 1st birthday poster which is an awesome piece it really is and i love the fact they used the vintage figures! However i know there is no way i would have £1000+ to drop on an original and to be honest if i had a £1000 i'd be looking at other items to purchase.
I have noticed that you can get a copy of this poster for less than £10 on ebay now i am seriously thinking of grabbing one of these as i believe it will still look awesome framed on the wall.

What do you guys do / think about this?

Well you could always try and pick up some of the remastered cinema posters from the 90's?

Not sure what's available but they all used the original images only difference being the dates etc

Probably a lot cheaper as well, I used to have an ESB one it was massive, picked it up for nothing when they re-released it at my local cinema!

I would be happy with those if I was honest, they are original, they use similar if not the same image and you haven't given anyone any money to copy an original :)

Hi Jay,

As far as posters go, I would have no problems displaying a repro poster.
For instance I have seen loads of re pros of the Birthday poster i recently picked up.
I was $2000 for the C9 Birthday poster and the repro is selling for £6 from Poster Planet.
They both look the exact same to me.
In fact I was considering keeping the original aside and buying a repro to frame and display until I get a spare room myself with no UV light.

Type in StarWars poster on Ebay and there will be about 8000 different searches.

Thank you.

Grant.

My option was to appeal to those that have a strong opinion of reproduction items, you can't really say you are against everything repro then buy a repro poster lol

Anyway , its an option you might want to consider Jay :)

If your buying a repro for £6 then you know its not an original but If you think your buying an original and get sold a repro then its time for a war.
I like the original SW items but when it comes to fake carded figures that people try to pass of as real then it gets right on my nerves.
I suppose the same should be said for posters but I still would have no problems with displaying a repro poster but I would not entertain a fake carded figure.

Strange but true.

Good post Grant and it sums up pretty much how I feel. I just look at it as a nice poster for the wall where as your SW 1st birthday one sheet is an awesome collectable.

I understand where your coming from as well Joe Ill check those item numbers you thew up when I'm back home on my P.C.

Did you ever get any posters Jay? Not sure if you thought the reissues were a good idea or not but I think if I ever get one that is what I will do (just to avoid buying a repro  )
