Brand new member with a large collection to sell so thought I would give a little background and ask a few questions regarding selling decorum here.

I am selling the collection on behalf of a collector friend who has been diagnosed with an illness and is moving abroad to live out his days.

I have some knowledge of Star wars collectables but am a bit out of date.

As far as the collection there are maybe 200-300 items mainly boxed and collected over around 20 years, not many carded figures and a small amount of newer stuff.

I also have a few hundred autographs and around 30 modern Artfx type diorama's and a lot of other odd stuff like star wars cereals!

What is the correct way to list things individually or in groups as do not want to fill up the boards?

Any questions welcome and as it will take a while to photograph ect if your looking for anything in particular let me know and I will see what I can do

Items located in Wiltshire and viewings are welcome.

Thanks for reading.

In order to sell here you'll need the photos of the items attached or linked in your sales thread, a list of prices and a paypal account.

If you need valuations you'll need to use this section: http://starwarsforum.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=3 I would advise you get everything priced first and then (and only then) come back to sell.

Good luck!

That is what I intend to do but have from experience in the past noticed that people can be sceptical of new members turning up with a large collection so thought I would give a bit of background, It might raise a few alarm bells when I start saying I have 12 Falcons and about 15 AT AT's for sale!

Firstly, welcome to the forum, however long you hang around!

Secondly, sorry to hear about your friend. It sounds like he's been dealt a really shitty hand :/

Thirdly, photos and prices are a must. Even if you just photograph large lots together. If you are unsure of values then start a "valuations" thread here on the forum http://www.starwarsforum.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=3

Finally, it's up to you how you sell; individually or in bulk. Individually will take a hell of a lot more time but will serve your friend the best as he will achieve maximum value from his items. This applied whether the items are modern or vintage (20 year old items are considered modern, only items from (debatable date!) 1985ish and prior are considered "vintage"). Individually will also serve the members here better as very few are interested in large lots and fewer still can afford them. That said, it does sound as if time has a part to play in this sale so bulk may be the way forward. Do expect to sell for a good amount less than the sum of the parts, though. Typically it would be a dealer interested in this lot and they need to earn from it.

Oh, and expect a reasonable number of Private Messages (look towards to the top right hand side of your screen). There's plenty of decent dealers here and not a few lurkers either. Personally, I have no time for lurkers: they don't contribute to the forum or its members. The established dealers here typically do. You can find feedback for members here: http://www.starwarsforum.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=22

Good luck, and PM incoming :)

As above, there is nothing wrong with being unsure about prices and even one or two photos of the whole lot will help greatly with valuations and trust. good luck with the sale.

As scruffy said, sad circumstances for a sale so best wishes.

Sell as a job lot for convenience / speed but you will get much less than the potential value as the dealer will keep what they want and need a margin for some profit. On the up side this involves much less hassle for yourself, and might be preferable in these circumstances.

Selling individually is likely to be the most profitable but might take longer to move everything once the best items have been cherry-picked.

My advice would be to post a few pics of your items on the valuations thread. You could then potentially sell some more desireable / valuable items individually to maximise profit on them, and break others into smaller job lots for convenience.

Another benefit of posting on the valuations thread is that members here will help you identify any items that you might have otherwise undervalued e.g. variant figures or blasters - these can be easily missed but can be more valuable than the figures they come with.

Hope this is helpful. Good luck.

Sorry for your friend thats sad to hear.
The guys on here will be fit to help you with their experience of sales like this.
You will get a lot of interest for this collection when the guys value them from your pictures.

Sorry to hear about the circumstances of the sale. I live in Wiltshire and travel around the region, drop me a PM and I can probably come take a look and help you out with any valuations, or maybe make you an offer. At the least, if you're around, then I can fire off a few piccies and post them up here for the guys.

The offers there, just let me know via PM and we can have a chat.

Cheers,

Andy
