All my mocs currently are hung up on the wall and today I received my first AFA graded moc, it suddenly occurred to me that if I glue an acrylic hook onto the case, would it in anyway devalue it?
Not that I have any intention to ever sell!

You are only doing a modification to the case so no I don't think so. You can just send it in to be re-cased if you really wanted to preserve the serial number for the piece etc.

Another idea would just be to crack it out, it would match your other figures and be easier to put on the wall too.

I personally would not custom it , unless you are keeping it for yourself ,

I think it would de value it , the next person may not want to hang it or think there is something wrong with it

Can you get it re cased or does it not have to be regraded , and the grade may drop

I have never asked for something to be re cased

I would do what you want with it. We're talking "damage" to a modern piece of acrylic, not the figure.

I see it all the time in adverts "brand new and scratch free AFA case" and for CGC (comics; same principal) "crack free case". Drives me nuts; folk need to remember that they're buying the figure/comic in a certain grade and that's where the value lies, not the case.

That said......yes, by attaching a fixture that leaves a mark on the case will devalue it in someone's eyes. Personally I'd do it and just avoid dealing with that person :D

Like I said, I will never sell any of my mocs, so I do feel that what I do to it will be mine for life and yeah I will marking the case, not the card inside! So why has it got me worried about its value? :?

Presently 1/3rd of my moc's are in acrylic cases but my plan is to put them all in acrylic cases and fill the wall! :D

I got Steve at UKG to make me some shelves out of acrylic which I think look good, but expensive. Also Ikea do some white shelves which work quit well. Here's the link to what I've done.

To hell with it! I have glued the hook! But I have used E6000, which is an ultra strong glue it'll glue anythig, but can be split and cleaned up! Just takes a good few hoursto set.

I really don't think it matters if you aren't selling Carl, it's what's inside the case that matters after all not what's on the label :)

Screw a pair of metal runners into the wall, distance between them measured as the same height as the AFA case and then simply slide your cases along, that way they cant fall.

Totally agree with everyone. If someone was selling a mod I wanted, graded with a hook on the back it wouldn't deter me one bit.

But then, I only have one AFA graded Moc, which is my PBP snag. I had others, but they met with the hammer and are now in GW cases. The only reason old snaggletooth is still in his AFA tomb is because I need to buy more cases. as an aside, the card back is filthy. You can see the dust and **** all over the card and bubble, so once he comes out he will be getting the baby wipe treatment as well.

Smash them out I say! Smash them all out to roam free as god intended them to be.

This is worth a read - http://www.starwarsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=23851&p=328430&hilit=wall#p328430 :D

I don't think it would devalue it but it would prob make it undesirable to some. It's up to you at the end of the day and now you've done it anyway! If it was mine (as someone else said) I'd probably try and find a way to mount them or support them from underneath rather than hang them. I'm in the Ben camp on this anyway, don't really do graded. I removed my TFP moc from a UKG case and I've cracked a loose afa graded Walrus Man out. I have 1 loose graded TFP but it doesn't fit with my collection so it's prob being freed or sold. The value issue doesn't bother me, it is what it is. Could you post a pic so we can see it?

I actually like when sellers mention the case is crack free and scratchless as a couple of times i have purchased something and those faults had been omitted.

I have always kept my acrylic cases as close to the ground as possible as less chance of drop damage but i cant see no prob if thats what you want to do,I am surprised they dont give you the option(maybe they do) to include a hanger.
