Hammer fans

They were great

I remember a school friend of mine who built and painted model kits of Frankenstein, Dracula, the mummy, wolf man etc, I remember them as being awesome

Wonder if they are still around

Can't say that I've seen many, if any. Love the 70's horror/macabre vibe though. One of my top 10 movies is Wicker Man (Ingrid Pitt :D ). Devils is another corker.

What Hammer film would you recommend to someone who had never seen one before?

Love the Wicker man Barry :D

mmm I would suggest some of the classics to start

HORROR OF DRACULA(1958)
THE DEVIL RIDES OUT(1968)
REVENGE OF FRANKENSTEIN(1958)

Used to be great seeing Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee together (if only Vincent Price could have joined them as well).

PC CL and VP were all in Scream and Scream Again and House of the Long Shadows together. Hard to find though.

As for Hammer movies, I loved all the vamp ones - but I always remember The Ghoul too from watching it as a youngen. Peter Cushing and John Hurt (with Don Henderson as the ghoul).

I also loved the Monster Club hosted by Vincent Price (the story with the Banshee a particular fave as a child).

All nostalgic - and most will seem pretty crud if I watched them now. But fond memories staying up late and watching them when staying over at my grandparents :)

Is there one called Witch Finder General? Came across something like that while buying Wicker Man a while back. Looked good.

Great thread, I was worried this thread was about MC Hammer when I saw the title!

Fellowship of the Ring on tv now for some always class work from the master Sir Christopher Lee. Remember being scared silly by Devil Rides Out. Some of them are a little schlocky but that one still gives me the willies! Used to be allowed to stay up to watch Hammer Horror movies with Mum, whose Dennis Wheatley box-set of books I still have. No wonder I'm a (recovering) Goth! 8)

Wicker Man is a supreme classic. Just love it. Awesome soundtrack too.

I'm with you there Nick, some great childhood memories. And seeing the occasional bonus pair of breasts as Hammer were not afraid of including was a definite bonus for a ten-year-old boy

lol  Oh the thrill of a pair of on screen breasts to a ten year old lad :)

A mate was telling me the other day how he used to go to his grandmother's house at weekend when he was a kid. One night they had the treat of staying up watching a film - Airplane! Got to the scene where everyone's panicking on the plane and that woman goes across the screen with her tits out. Granny was doing hail Mary's and the lot while my mate was pissing himself at the on screen tits and carnage
