I keep getting drawn to the Gentle Giant 12" MOC's - whats the history and view on these people?

I know they are not exactly vintage but I think they look amazing and would display lovely - would appreciate all views and comments and any idea of what I should be looking to pay for them should I decide I want to do a run on them?

Thanks

Garry

I think they are awesome looking...................but they seem to want to now produce every Kenner figure ever made. IMO....That kinda of takes away from the uniqueness of these and at the price they want...I would rather buy real vintage stuff.

The only one I am getting (if they do it) is the 8D8. Nice enough if you have the cash sitting around (and the space to display them) but for most people it's a potential £50-80 worth of Vintage blown on modern novelty items.

If you still aren't sure if you want some or not, try getting one of the more iconic figures and see if it does anything for you (Vader perhaps).

I think if they would have only done the first 12 or 21 that would have made them more special. Now they are just making money at the whim of collectors.

I agree with Joe. They certainly do look cool on display and have some real visual impact but they are a bit gimmicky. I would probably invest in one if it was to compliment a character focus but I prob wouldnt chase a full run... Todd may be right and if they end up doing all the characters... That is gonna be pricey. :|

I also think these absolutely need to be display loose where possible.

They are cool in limited numbers, like others have said for a focus, but not to run on them

There are lots of other modern 12 inch, sideshow, Kotobukiya that have great sculpts

I have a fett really nice and great sculpt, and a Luke bespin Kotobukiya

Hot toys are really cool but expensive,

can't see these 12 inch as anything other than modern though, it's just that they are replicating vintage....and the run will go on...and on

A little like the recent release of the vintage series mocs
All depends what floats your boat though

Great advice from Joe get a couple of your fav or focus characters, see how you feel :D

The original Sideshows like Luke Jedi and Han Bespin were only 30 pounds originally ! They now want nearly 200 for Boba Fett and Darth Vader ROTJ.

Goth the fett on eBay, not boxed but really like him and think I paid £15 :D

Luke ...again not boxed but only paid around a tenner

The hot toys are silly prices, but awesome sculpts 8)

If I was a focus collector I would probably be tempted by one for my focus, like Joe said in his post an 8D8 for his collection.

I personally think the human figures look awful, the aliens and droids are the best.

Space is an issue if you collect them all

(I take it your talking about the vintage Gentle Giant MOC's)

Agree with what the guys have said on this!

I will defo be having the Yoda variants Droid 3 pack and a few Gammy Guards because they are awesome and the CE2 Yak but not sure about the rest. :)

They do look good but money and space will definitely stop me from getting any anytime soon.

I'd like a few of my favourite figures if they eventually release all the original line, but certainly not in any rush

Appreciate all your views - got a few coming to see what they are like, Boba, Yoda and Mr Vader!

The Modelzone order when tits up but I got a full refund :)

Awesome. I've got a Gammy Guard on the way from the states. Very difficult to get in the UK now that ModelZone has gone. :(
What sort of price did you pay for your 3? Did you get them all at CE2? (didn't realise you went)

I got them on on ebay for about $70 each - not too bad really

Yoda is the ESB variant and in typical me style I have ended up with 2 ESB Yodas as I got carried away making offers that got accepted!

Nice one mate Paid £90 for Yak and £75 for the Yoda all from CE2. The guy at the next stall had one at £85 and another guy wanted £95 so I am happy. :)
