Any idea on insured postage to France. (an Moc). I've never posted anything insured before. What's the general addition in cost?

It cost me £12 to send a MOC insured for £100 to Sweden on Saturday.

Good point - the £5-6 is just for standard mail - if you want it signed for / insured then you are looking much closer to the £10-£12 mark

Hi,

I agree, its usually around the £10-12 mark for me to post special delivery to West Europe.
Up to £13 for an AFA moc figure.

Vern,

try parcel2go mate, someone like dhl will probably cost the same and you get premium tracking

RM have stung me no less than 3 time in the last few years with their shite-arse customer service

Have changed the title of this thread to be a more general shipping/postage Q&A thread.

And- Does anyone know how much it should cost to ship an moc to Canada? 1st class.

Cheers
Pete.

Pete you need to buy a set of kitchen scales and use this website

http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?mediaId=53800712&catId=400036

so in answer to your question - about £5/£6 for a MOC to Canada insured for £46

Beware though, Royal Mail have recently changed their terms, and if a parcel is over 600mm long or with combined dimensions of over 900mm it costs a fortune.

I recently had to repackage something I was sending to Emiel - first attempt was £21! when it should have cost £3/£4

Aint that the ****ing truth!
Been stung like that on a Y-wing to Italy :(

it's a RM scam so that they don't pay compensation for damaged items. You basically have to find the smallest box possible now to avoid being ripped off. If it gets damaged RM claim that the packaging was insufficient and won't pay - bastards

they're more pricey than RM for small items, but you get the satisfaction of using someone else :)

Yodel (formerly DHL) are actually pretty cheap, you will pay minimum £6 for a good size package but they do pay up if it gets damaged like mentioned before. and there is proper online tracking to see where it is and you both get email updates ect.

Royal mail are shite, they have refused to pay for a couple of my damaged items and their customer service were cunts, how i didnt threaten the guy i dont know, he just told me to take them to court if i didnt like their decision.

if its not worth more than £30 they dont quibble, anything over that and your screwed.

they refused to pay for a £20 SNES that got broken - I had to send them the packaging, and they said it wasn't up to scratch (which was true), but it shows how tight they are
