Garmin Forerunner firmware update help

Hey guys.

I have been trying to update the firmware on my Forerunner 405 for the last couple of days but am not having nay success.

Have worked out today the firmware on my watch is 2.10 and I need to update it to 2.80. I get so far on the Garmin website then cant seem to get any further. Really bugging me as the battery is running out really quick on my watch and apparently this update fixes that.

I have all the up to date Garmin connector and plugin's so cant see where I am going wrong.

Any help would be much appreciated.

only thing i can think of is have you got the latest version of IE, Chrome ect some firmware can only use the latest web browser?

Are you using Garmin Express software to connect as they seem to be trying to get everything to go through that now...

This is the problem I had. I'm running windows 8 and for some reason my Gamin Connect etc didn't like it when I used IE, switched to Chrome and it worked perfectly.

IMO Chrome is much better then IE.

Thanks for the responses guys. Not sure what IE i am running but have been using Chrome a lot more lately so will give that a try tonight.

All updated guys, thanks. Used chrome in the end which after I had installed the communicator plugin again picked up the device and ran the update.
