Are the Olympics in London or Paris?? Only asking as its really pissing me off that the commentary in the stadium is being read in French first!! Why?? Surely any other country would have it reach in their own language first.

Sorry, bit of a pathetic rant but it's annoyed me a little bit. :)

The French is a nod to Pierre De Counertin who is credited with creating the modern Olymipic Games, i think it happens at every Games, summer and winter.

Yeah it is Matt. Pretty sure the official languages of the Olympics are just French and English.

Went to the football last night in Coventry and all the signs were in English and French and all the announcements were in French first, then English.

Matt is right - they have it at every games - it was at Bejing as well

Lots of Daily Mail readers getting their knickers in a twist about it as well

A mate pointed out to me today the lack of roman numerals being used in the promotion of the London Olympics.

Unfortunately being the 30th it would be the XXX London olympics. What a missed opportunity, they could have some awesome events like had the 100mtr dirty sanchez the pole vault would have had a whole new meaning and imagine the women's naked beach volley ball.

Pretty stupid, why don't they read them out in Ancient Greek as well

I enjoye it, but Jesus did they really need to spend 2 hours introducing the teams? I was bored stiff.

It wasnt my kind of music but I did enjoy the show and always like the countries athletes march.

I actually asked a friend why it was in two languages as seemed strange, you would have thought it would have been in greek too. I bet if it was in every language would have taken 2 days to complete.
