GROUP U RESULTS

1. 53 points. Cloud Car Pilot. QUALIFIED.
2. 49 points. Bossk.
3. 30 points. Prune Face.


A tight group which the old Cloud Car Pilot pips Bossk by four points. It was no surprise that CCP was the eventual winner as he was the only figure in the group with the experience of getting out of the group stage in the past and it clearly helped him cross the line as Bossk couldn't take advantage. The Cloud Car Pilot out of the three is the only figure to ever get out the group stage when he topped Group J back in 2015 knocking out R2 Pop Up Sabre and Lando general Pilot, CCP went on to give a good account of himself too in the second narrowly being eliminated 16-15 to Hoth Luke. If he can show that form again he may well beat the 2nd round personal best, only time will tell.

GROUP V RESULT

1. 60 points. Han Solo. QUALIFIED.
2. 49 points. Death Star Droid.
3. 24 points. Nikto.


A very strong showing from the original release of Han Solo. But was it really that surprising though as DSD and Nikto have both finished bottom of their group in every previous competition, at least Death Star Droid no longer has that stigma attached to him. As for Han Solo he has qualified out of the group in every competition. In 2014 he topped a group which consisted of Death Squad Commander, Luke Poncho and B-Wing Pilot although he fell at the second round stage. Whilst in 2015 he went one better, he topped Group O convincingly back then winning it by over double the second placed points score, that year Zuckuss and EV-9D9 had no response to him, and he carried his fine group form into the second round as he smashed Leia Poncho 19-8, Sadly for Solo it all came crashing down in the third round as he was beaten by his co-pilot figure Chewbacca 16-9. In a year when some big hitters have already been eliminated is it time for one of the first 12 heroes can lift the trophy.

3. 34 points. 2-1B.


What an incredibly difficult group but was actually won very comfortable. Luke Farmboy was always a figure I thought would win this contest when I started it up so for him to never feature in the semi-finals was a surprise. In 2014 he won a group consisting of Luke X-Wing Pilot, Cloud Car Pilot and Lumat, certainly a group not to be sniffed at, but he fell at the second stage to Luke Jedi. He returned in 2015 and dominated his group once again which consisted of Hoth Rebel Soldier and Barada, this time however he looked like he may fulfil his potential as he beat IG-88 17-14 in the second round. He continued this sparkling form also into the third round as he won by 6 points, 15-9 as he saw off Death Squad Commander. Could it be Luke Farmboys year were the whispers, but it wasn't to be as Yoda convincingly beat him 19-14 in the quarter finals. Luke Farmboy will never have a better chance to win it than this year, down to him to get the job done.

Another figure who has had some forum loving over the last 12 months is Han Hoth, eliminated at the group stage in 2015 by Greedo and in 2014 by Hoth Stormie, Han Hoth finally gets out the group stage to test himself in straight knockouts. I'm surprised the Gam Guard didn't give him more competition having won his group both times in 2014 & 2015. The Gamorrean Guard had been beaten in the 2nd round both times, once by Boba Fett and once by Jawa, han Hoth will hope he doesn't get the rotten luck that the Gam Guard has had in the second round draw.

Yes let's hope a 12 backer wins this year, if it wasn't for them we wouldn't of had the rest.

This was the first group I missed, I'm glad my choices wouldn't have affected the outcome though. No real surprises. All seems fairly sensible so far. Bossk beats CCP though for me.
