Strange one this. As a self confessed ABU, and as someone who thinks Fergy has LESS class than a used condom, I cant say I'll miss the sour faced **** at all.
I have a lot of respect for his achievements, but none for the man himself.
Moyes replacing him is a bit ehhh underwhelming I guess. By no means a bad manager but not one that instantly makes you think "yeah, great choice." He's done well at Everton on a budget of £3.27 and half a Bounty bar, BUT he hasn't exactly played attractive football. They are no Stoke or WH, but 'workman like' would be a generous description of their style. Maybe that's all he could achieve with his resources, and a I suspect the glory hunters won't care about the style of play too much if he wins stuff at Utd, but time will tell.
He has pretty much no European experience and a long term issue with Rooney, but as he looks to be on his way out that may not be a big problem.
I agree that Utd squad is ropey (Anderson is woeful, Nani, Young, and Valencia all look to be on their way out). I think I've said before that whilst Utd were worthy champions this season it was a case of being the best of a bad bunch. And that's meant as indictment of the rest of PL not Utd.
Moyes needs a new CM and a play maker in the Modric mould. As well as wingers with an ounce of consistency and probably a new CB as Vidic and Ferdinand are getting on a bit. Ohh and I still think Evra flatters to deceive.
As for Moyes replacement. BIG BIG call for Everton. They need a miracle worker. That club hasn't got the budget to compete with the top half, yet Moyes has kept there for most of his time. Personally I think Martinez would be a great choice. I can't see Wigan staying up, so it will depend on whether he tries to stick around and get them back up or if he decides it's time to move on.
Martin O'Neil and Mark Hughes whilst both solid enough PL managers would be best ignored.
