Every saga has a beginning...

And here's a few photos of how my office and the new upstairs bedroom look after the first year. Since the last photos I have put my loose collection on the wall, put up a couple of pictures, and played with the displays a bit. I still have some more ideas, but just haven't had the time or money to do them yet. But I have been using it almost daily to work in, which has been a real game changer from trying to work in the house with the kids running about!

Looks great, sorry to hear about the damp issues you had, but thankfully looks fixed now.
I feel your frustration…but enjoy the space now.

Needs some more SW though
Yes this is the dilemma I have, I would love more Star Wars on display but it takes up so much damn space! MOCs are bad, boxed vehicles are even worse. I will have to try and thin out the video games a bit some time.

Another minor disaster last week, one of the glass shelves in my cabinets gave way and caused a domino effect on the ones below! Luckily as each shelf was only an inch or two from the next there doesn't seem to be any damage. I was in too much of a panic to take a "before" photo, but I've now replaced all of the glass shelves with the original wooden ones which are much more secure.

Nice! A fellow physical media collector!

Not 100% sure about this, see what you think. There's a lot of white in my office so I've been thinking about ways to get some more colour in here. I came up with making the background of my loose figure display cabinet the same yellow colour as the old cardbacks:

A very Blue Peter solution, a sheet of A1 card in "buttercup yellow" from a local art shop, cut it down to the right size, and attach it with some double sided sticky pads.

Here's the before and after. I like how there's no longer a crease down the middle, it's a shame the shelves aren't yellow too but that would have involved painting, maybe in the spring. I still need to look at lights too as it's a bit dark.
