Thought I'd let folks here know about my recent acquirement!

A good few years back my grandparents started the annual request that I put up their Xmas decorations. They were too old to climb ladders up to the loft etc and I was happy to do it. One year I noticed an interesting box up there that was used for their many decorations. I made a mental note and every year checked that it remained in one piece and was out of harms way. My grandparents passed away a couple of years ago and the house went through a long running sale of the estate. When asked if I wanted anything from the house, I made sure I said the box used for the decorations - 'You want their decorations?' 'No just the box' said I.

I finally picked it up today from my parents. Its hardly the sort of thing that is display quality and is basically a cardboard box but I think its pretty cool and they're can't be that many around. :D

Incidentally my brother did get a Scout Walker one Xmas probably from my grandparents. They always shopped in Tesco and back in the day you packed groceries in the cardboard boxes so kind of makes sense. Before anyone asks the box definitely had no Star Wars in it when I first found it!

Man, that is quality - and considering what the boxes sell for these days then that is quite a score

That's fantastic! Not only awesome because of what it is but also because of the connection to your Grandparents. You should give it a huge acrylic box for display :D

Brilliant!!! I love stories like that. I know many people think nothing of them, but those cases hold just as much history as a MOC or loosie, and are much rarer when you think about it, especially if you've got some personal connection to them.

Bet that becomes a really nice part of your collection :D

It sure will, although I'm not exactly sure what to do with it. Its not exactly pleasing to the eye, effectively just a brown box. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Thanks for the kind words lads. :)

:o some of the pali boys would love this

great story fella thanks for sharing :)

interesting it says made in france

Amazing, very happy you managed to get it! My grandparents passed about 5 years ago, they had LOADS of toys as my grandad worked for Hornby (it was all 60-70s so no Star Wars I'm afraid) but I believe it all went in a skip or to a clearance company when the house was sold :( I remember things like the Palitoy Action Man Space Capsule and Evil Knevil bikes. The only thing my mum managed to salvage was a Hornby Stevenson's Rocket which I now have in my living room :)
