Does anyone support repro in any format?

This is the first forum I ever joined so I would just like a quick run down why nobody is too keen on dealing with this guy Orme! Does he only sell repro? What's his e bay username? Does he sell any vintage? Is he selling in the UK? And I take it he doesn't give a **** about selling repros? Does he list them as repros?

To be 100% honest, I am not aware if he sells authentic stuff or where he ships from.

His primary business is to reproduce vintage Star Wars toy boxes. He has been asked repeatedly to mark them as repros, so people do not get fooled, and he has - by making a VERY small marking on an inconspicuous spot that a) would not be easy to see unless you were searching for it, and b) usually places them on a spot like a flap, which can be torn off and claimed as a damaged box. As everyone knows, repros can be used to fool unsuspecting and/or uneducated buyers into thinking they are buying something legitimately from the vintage era, and because of the "condition" people fooled by these would pay a healthy premium thinking they are getting something dead mint.

Because of his refusal to act responsibly, people should not deal with him on principle alone. Also, for every legit item you buy from him, you're giving him money that he can put back into his repro ****, making them better and fooling more.

Don't feed the cycle. Cut him down at the knees, and just don't spend anything on him at all.

Ian

OK thanks guys things are more clear for me now. As regarding that dude who's name pops up now again on this forum with people passing coments about him cheers.

his ebay is replicatorreproductionboxes or some bollocks like that. He ships from Cannock, UK but does have an American subsidiary whose name I had but have been searching for a while as I've misplaced it.

He was actually a member on here about 4-5 years ago selling off an amazing collection to fund IVF treatment - he sold some great pieces - all through eBay but didn't really integrate with the community or give any back ground as to where everything came from - I didn't like him then and I certainly don't like him and all he stands for now

I don't support repro's. Unfortunately it's very hard to see what is genuine or repro on places like Ebay. I ask the sellers as much as i can about any accessories the figures come with, ie. is it genuine or is it repro? The downside to Ebay i find is the picture quality, the picture quality doesn't always help with identifying things like repro etc. i can ask the seller all these valuable questions about the items etc but how do we the buyer know the seller is not lying? Example if you ask the seller are the accessories or capes genuine and he or she tells you they are but in fact they are repro's! Like i said i don't support repro in any way, i would rather have a great mint figure without original accessories than repros.

I am really pleased with the response within my topic mostly as almost everyone agrees with my beliefs that repro in any way shape or form is wrong with absolutely no exceptions and as someone said I think it was Ian the only we to combat it is to stop feeding it if nobody buys it then there is no market unfortunately I believe it seems to be to far evolved as do most let's hope we all help each other with advice and knowledge to stay clear of it

Simple answer, NO NO NO and NO! I am fed up with the repro garbage you see on Ebay. I'd rather have a mint figure without it's accessories than one with a repro one. any of my figures that come with repro crap the repro accessories goes in one place where it belongs, the bin! Say no to Repro, the less we buy repro the better.

So are you saying you like repros

I either have a vintage item or I don't , plain and simple , there is no reproduction , reproduction is nothing but a nuisance as if you come across them I need to throw them away and I also discard the seller and I don't even buy their genuine items if they also offer repro items , I often miss on great vintage items because I refuse to buy from sellers that have any repro .

I'm dead against it, can't see the point. Fair enough the original weapons are expensive but surely the whole point of collecting is to collect original vintage stuff. I've fallen foul a few times of "weapon believed to be original" and "weapon not tested" on eBay. People know what they are doing when they sell repro stuff, it's awful and pretty dishonest. It makes you sick when you receive something and the weapon is clearly repro.
