Is it just me or do there seem to be more damaged MOCS around these days?

Maybe I've just seen afew recently, mostly afa's, but could it be part of a trend as the bubbles degrade and the seals get weaker over time, and we are getting to a sort of critical point, especially the ones crossing the Atlantic for grading, or between collectors.

Part of the problem is almost certainly the post services not giving a crap about looking after things. 'Fragil'e seems to be postmans language for 'Please kick the **** out of me'.

Absolutely hate sending or receiving any serious pieces via post :?
Sometimes think stating 'fragile' you may as well state 'kick me' :P
Saying that Royal Mail nx day SD hasn't let me down...yet :!:

Stuff being traded and also general degrading unfortunately. Bubble fell off my misbubble Meccano Yoda. Bought it when the going was cheap so not too fussed, but there will be more like this as time goes by.

It is also possible that fakes could be bashed about to make them look more authentic. Just a thought.

Prices for MOCs are going up and people who have damaged/opened examples are selling when it didn't seem worth while before. We'll probably see a constant stream of MOCs turn up, especially on ebay.

MOCs can deteriorate over time. Personally I'm extremely concerned about sunlight damage, with Kenner bubbles seemingly more susceptible to yellowing than Palitoy. My MOC collection never sees the light of day.

Craig.

X pack I've had the exact same thought on fakes... Would be a great way not to raise too many eyebrows

ive noticed damaged moc's selling highly alot more recently there even pricing myself out and a gradual increase in surfacing pieces maybe people know what they have and selling while they can!

ive also noticed an increase in damaged graded afa pieces....are afa not making the rails of acrylics as good? cut backs? overall quality of plastic? who knows....as said previously postal services throwing packages around doesnt help :|

Exactly. The 'wear' would be fairly easy to achieve. Tell tale sign of recards is how mint they look ..along with other bollocks. Price stickers and edge wear. I always try to look past them
