Displaying my collection in a garage?

Don't bother mate. I can only liken it to displaying in a shed. Temperature will change wildly throughout the year. During winter you will be exposing your collection to near freezing conditions not to mention the year round dampness. My garage is fairly dry but there's no way i would store anything made of card in it, such as star wars figures on card backs. They would quickly become damp and start to go wavy.

That is what i thought to be honest.
Looks like I will have to either do the loft out or use the cupboard under the stairs.
Just sick of not having them on display :(

Check out my showcase. I keep it in the attic in a cabinet. It's all the space i have and isn't ideal, but it's better than being packed away in boxes.

I've had mine in my loft for around 3-4 years. I was worried at first about tempertaure variations etc.

I have a lot of boxed items but all is good. I've had no problems, no dampness etc.

I suppose it varies with air circulation and insulation though.

I second the above. I wouldnt recommend it :)

I say, do what you want. I think we can all be too prissy about our toy's. They are there to be enjoyed. If the only place you can enjoy them is your garage, do it. Everything deteriorates with age mate, what is they say, "better to have love and lost, than to never have loved at all".
Do what you want to.........................and enjoy them

lol. Yes do what you want. If what you want is wavy, moldy cardbacks and boxed vehicles then by all means, store them in the garage. If you are really lucky the spiders might set up camp in your At-At (if you have one ...I don't :( )

..Nah

I find that a bit ****ing harsh!. He did say store in the garage, he said 'display' in his garage, which suggests they will be looked at!

Temperature is no big deal even sub zero (below zero only really affects stuff with water in them). It's damp, UV and to a lesser extent oxygen that will damage your collection. Damp proofing your garage is a lot easier than you think and much cheaper to. Even a small dehumidifier will sort out the damp if you are feeling lazy. If you are serious about this, just let me know and I will give you more details. But to answer your question, yes a garage is a good place for your collection if you do a bit work first.

is your boiler in your garage? thats something to consider also, any pipes or condensation can lead to eroding or staining and the possibility of a leaking pipe
