Dispatches: Inside Royal Mail Channel4 on Manday at 8pm

I had a mate who temped in the royal mail one summer. They used to give the parcels marked 'fragile' special treatment, football was a favourite...

The problem with temps and I'm talking from experience of working along side them is most of the don't give a **** about the job. We see a big rise over Christmas of **** up from our mail centre's and that's because over Christmas they get temps in for 3 months work and that's it. They really don't give a crap about what hey do and how they handle stuff as they know in 3 months they wont be in the job anymore anyway. Management in Mail Centres nowadays is strict and they wouldn't get away with stuff like that anymore.

These types of programmes are damaging for more companies than just the one they are secretly filming. Say the programme follows Yodel, other companies like RM, TNT, DHL, UPS will still get some flack and backlash from it as people will assume that is the same across the board in every delivery company.

I will admit I have heard stories in years gone by of this sort of thing happening in RM, but in recent years it has been cut down dramatically due to more forceful management.

Just watched 'secrets of your missing mail' on Channel 4..... Did this replace 'inside Royal Mail'....? Wasn't to flattering to 'TNT' and other private delivery companies.... :?
Kicking parcels etc...but the time limit/ money saving measures on deliveries was shocking....

I think it did Jeff! I had an mate who worked for Yodel for a while and he said the way they work is shocking. Not just in the warehouses but out on delivery.

He was forced to take out way more parcels than he could feesibly delivery in his working time. Was told to do what you can and bring the rest back. He said they didnt give a crap whether it had a next day service or 2 day service, some packets had been in the warehouse for a week just going out on delivery and coming back!!
